What is the hardest deer to gralloch?

I've found easiest way to do the bigger species on the floor is by hocking then pushing your stick inside out and into the ground on the furthest leg.This keeps the beast with its belly accessible without having to wrestle the leg all the time.None are real hard tbh muntjac possibly awkward of youve big hands like me.

Big eastern county reds are pretty hard if your on your Tod. Sometimes after doing a lot of fallow I find I’m a bit too rough on roe and pull too hard on some bits. Always annoying

Used to find fallow the hardest, simply due to the manhandling on my own on the floor. That was until I got one of the B&D stalking assist deer hanger kit - being ratchet locking based it makes life so much easier, with the more delicate Muntie probably now topping the list.

Well, I tbought this is could be an interesting one.
I find gralloching Munties to be a pain. Cos they are so small and clearing out the anal passage in particular is difficult.
I think if you can gralloch a muntjac then everything else is a walk in the field.

Is it just me?

I have done Roe, Fallow and Muntjac and haven't experienced a great difference in gralloching.

Skinning is a different matter and I think that a Munty is (proportionally for its size) harder.

I have made a long 7 shaped hook with a eye on it to go up in the H bone that way I will gain the height of the legs when using a pulley hoist. Don't bump into much big stuff but it took only a few mins to make and lives with the hoist behind the seat.

I don't find gralloching a large fallow on the ground that difficult.

But, I agree getting the beast back and into the Land Rover alone, and then getting it hoisted up alone skin can be a struggle.

Not uncommon for Norfolk, stag shot last year 140 kg larder weight, so prob 200 plus kg on the hoof.

a lot to be said for shooting small stuff.

It dosnt matter what calibre they shoot them with, some cant seem to put the bullet in the right place. More overseas clients who cant shoot to save their lives!!

Yes I can have the same problem, some so badly shot they are not worth retrieving .

Hang them up with a S Hook take out a hole put back on to the floor does start at the ubber cut back open up bucks start at penis same cut open all the way up to the head saw open chest with bone saw hang back up with S hook and drop everything out cut windpipe and food pipe at the head job done. The hardest bit is the bladder and the pipe from the penis.

In red.....a mj buck can have a full bladder big as a med chickens egg which if you are not careful will burst in a second.

The rest of the stuff is bread & butter but with big fat welding hands I split the H bone and tease it out with the extra room.....far outweighs the hero to zero moment lol

Yes it's very easy to bust the bladder when removing it to safeguard it going allover the meat grab the bladder push the carcass up so when you pull it if it busts it misses the meat and goes on to the floor you sometimes after change gloves at that point. This can only be done if the carcass is suspended.

100kg red with the gear to suspend it, under 10 mins on the ground gnats cock under 15.

I wish I had fallow, then my life would be a lot easier!

You won't find many pig, sheep cattle being done on the floor...

There is good reason they are done that way....

The worst one I did was a fallow doe that held an unborn dead foetus,man alive it was rank, not much turns my stomach but I defy anyone to stand within 50yds of that smell and not gag
