God, I remember that. The old Phbb forum hosting platform? My own forum was based on that, and I sadly lost everything when it went offline. It had been losing impetus for a good while due to Faceache, etc, and I didn't know enough to change hosts so I could keep the content. Sad to think it's lost forever as there was some damn good information within
 
Congratulations! It's a wonderful site and I'll be forever grateful that it provided me with the opportunity to take a sponsored DSC-1 course. With that behind me and the support of a superb Stalking mentor, I had the confidence to secure my own permissions and really start to enjoy stalking on my own terms.
 
I joined the site in Jan 2007, we had a meet at Quex where Malc used to work, still got the photo of us all inside the main building.
It showed the interest for stalking even then, lads came from Yorkshire, Staffordshire, East Anglia, all over I think Alex even came up from Bristol.
It has proven to be informative and helpful ( don't mention Beowolf ) and long may it continue.

Purchasing the site was something I had never intended on doing, but I am glad I did, along with John, joined a little later by Alex, who I must say has worked hard to maintain the sites running and any IT issues. My grateful thanks to him.

There are many on here that have made good friendships with others, people have offered help to those less fortunate, money has been raised for charities. People have even given rifles away to help get a novice on the deer stalking ladder, and I know many of you have taken others out for free to get them on their first deer. Thank you one and all for your support, and to those that have become firm and lasting friends of mine. You know who you are :), some of you now guide for me.

Once again thankyou from all the 3 site owners, and I wish all of you a great Roe Buck season, keep safe and well.

Well done. A huge achievement.
I remember starting as a rather elderly novice ten years ago. What I learnt from this site made a huge difference: the opinion and advice of seasoned stalkers. The depth and range of advice was available nowhere else.
On a personal note, I have enjoyed stalking with a master, and taken five of the six species, both here and abroad, and memorably last year's magnificent roebuck, which was the subject of your taxidermy skills. So a fair range of things to thank you, and this site, for.

As someone who has benefitted from this site (but still don't seem to have much luck on the monthly supporters draw!!!), all I can say is just keep going and a tremendous thank you for all the hard work. Would be a good idea to become a supporter on this milestone, if you are not one already.
 
I must,admit I've been a member of a few forums, even a moderator on one, and this is by far the most informative and friendly site which simultaneously takes no shite.and calls you out if you've done wrong and I'm all for that rather than the snowflake approach.

I've made friends and chatted to some real knowledgeable people.

Long may it continue

The page is a little skewed because there's things like the images and menu messed up but we changed phpBB to vBulletin in Q1 2010 and then XenForo in November 2018.

I just had to check my dates but it was 2011 and you sorted me out the last deer for my level 2.

Thank you @Robin and @sikamalc quizzed me on it! 😀
 
Never mind the width of head count what we need is a much improved quality of contribution! And commencing with a far greater number of elected Distinguished Members by way of encouragement.

Sadly the lack thereof is not helped by the Stalking Directory membership’s poor uptake of Deer Management related CPD and general grasp of shooting related tick-box bull**** that those Moderators and/or Site Owners tasked with promotion must - I feel sure - take into consideration.

A tremendous achievement. And such a well managed forum, with a light touch.

My GF and I well remember visiting Quex when on a campervan tour, ten years ago. I contacted Malcolm to find out more about the place, next thing we were invited to his place for a memorable chat over a bottle of wine, then given a personal tour of the museum, for several hours, made so special by Malcolm's insights and clear love of the taxidermy that he had so beautifully restored.

Sadly I've only been able to go out with him a couple of times, whilst his Sussex "Bothy" was in an early state of development, but well remember the breakfasts, and cake. It is a resolution to get back again later in the year, personal circumstances permitting, and even clear my DSC2.

I confess to having found it a great distraction over the past year, and have been unreasonably chatty whilst locked down and sheltering.

So, three cheers for the SD, and those who make it possible.
