Trained hunter Game meat hygiene course

Having passed my dsc 1 many years ago I now find myself needing the game hygiene course.. I didn't update my cert with the DMQ......

Is there anyone, other than the NGO running these courses as a stand alone course?

Thanks

Chatting to an AW yesterday, I got the impression that as part of the new level 2 assessment, you get the game handling cert by showing good hygiene skills on the practical dressing of the animal.

Could that be a solution?

I did DMQ1 in 2006 and didn't update it when the new regs came in. I did DMQ2 in 2015 and the certificate says it includes "Preparing deer for storage".

I don't have a piece of paper with a registered hunter number on it but my game dealer has always been happy to take my DMQ2 certificate number in it's place. Not sure whether this is right or not but has never been questioned.

Not sure whether I need to do another course in preparation or not.

I'm in exactly the same boat....and so far can only see the ngo that do courses.... I had a look at the online course for 35 but it states 5 year qualification on it which doesn't seem correct compared to the ngo course any info? ?

I probably wouldn't be posting this because I think you are on thin ice selling to a dealer without the proper ticket. doubt if the 35 quid online thing covers it either. look up the regs online. I think most of the trainers are now doing a ad on ticket after dmq moved the goalposts. certainly Jelan and bds are

It never ceases to amaze me as to what people will happily put on a public forum!

Lanta works or refresher courses from memory.

My quad bike ticket and triple/flail tickets need renewing via a refresher every 5 years. They say so on my cards

Unfortunately the file is too large to load. It can be found using the information below.

Did mine last Thursday with the NGO.
I’d recommend them - both friendly and helpful and you get a trained hunter number off the back of it 👍🏼

I already had the large game cert as part of my DSC1 but also wanted the small game one so I did the NGO one that covers both, found it a really good enjoyable course
Saved me a post. Almost!

I recall berating DMQ, and indeed the BDS as DSCL1 course provider, for not offering the “Small Game” module as part of their 3-day courses by way of an optional extra. A small additional charge and c30-minutes at the end of day 2 would have covered it and the additional test paper/questions.

Sadly they chose to ignore my ‘helpful’ correspondence in regard to such so I still only have a qualification in LG, which means I cannot legally put squirrel or peacock into the food chain. Not even if I perform a suspended evisceration on the former!
