I only paid the renewal cost of my certificates.
oh you absolutely do. No GP form = no licence.I didn't think you needed one in Scotland for a renewal?
I just use medcert.co.uk for £50.Kin'ell...... I'd give Rogue Traders a call, that Matt Alright would deffo leap out of a hedge and push a microphone in your GP's face for a blatant extortion racket like that.
but only once you have been through the GP process the first time.Shame you don't live in Scotland.
Renewals don't require a doctors letter unless your medical condition has changed during the validity of your certificate and you now need to declare that your suffer from one or more of the conditions listed on the application form.

Police Scotland instituted their "no GP letter - no certificate policy on 1st April 2016 and since an FAC/SGC is valid for 5 years, then ANYONE in Scotland who has renewed since 1st April this year has not needed a GP letter (unless their medical condition has changed)but only once you have been through the GP process the first time.
Sounds like I got really lucky, no charge from mine! The FEO even asked if I'd been charged.

In England and Wales where different forces had and have different policies on GP letters it's quite possible that some renewals will require a GP letter in forces where no letter was previously required, but where the policy has changed and a letter is now required.
Wouldn't it be great if ALL police forces in England Wales and Scotland followed the HO Guidance stopped playing silly bu**ers.

Not yet (if ever) - read the reply I received from the head honcho firearms guy on 3 June this yearNot the case now Bruce. I renewed a few months back and its going to require medical certification every 5 years whether you have even seen a doctor or not in between renewals
