Heaviest red stag shot in the UK

Ok its not UK but its of UK red deer origins that I took here in Vic. I wished I had of weighed it at the time but had no means. He was a heavy as pre rut bloke that the taxidermist when he rolled out the cape said "schitt I will have to use a Wapiti form for him he is huge" He has a back on him like a seal and was an absolute horse when I saw him standing .....FAT !
I will add that he also was one of the best ever deer that I have eaten.

The above two stags were shot in Northumberland, with me guiding. The bottom one was responsible for killing several other stags. Both weighed in at well over 20 stone each, but I cant remember the exact weight.

The heaviest Sika stag I have personally shot was in Dorset. Tikka308 will remember it. Head, legs and everything off it weighed 150lbs dead on the hook.

Thats a heavy Sika. Not heard of to many in NZ that come in at that.
Might get a few around the miltary zone and pine blocks.
You must have good soil for them to get that big.

23.5st/147kg larder weight. Ancient beast almost fully gone back to a switch, teeth well worn. I didn’t even attempt to lift it, farmer arrived after a call with a load all to get it into the hilux.

Helped retrieve one from forestry in the Isle of Mull at Pennyghael. Took a quad and 4 of us. 26 stone 2lbs hill weight just at the start of the rut. Next was a summer stag from Mar Lodge at a tad over 21 stone.

Hope to bump into one of those on mull next month

No definitely Thetford I believe the FC were doing them for £500. I also believe Big Bill J shot one as well. In the early days (RW's time) they were takeable as per the old photos. Hilary wanted it to go to the cottage.

I find it hard to believe that a chilled carcass could approximately loose 12 kg in 24hrs.
But if you know different then I take your word for it.

For clarity I never actually said a carcass could lose 12 kg in 24 hours.
All carcasses will lose weight hanging how much is variables most weight is lost in the first twenty four hours but they will continue to lose weight for a time after that.
Another think that influences weight loss is the conditions when the beast was shot or even handled a beast shot in wet conditions will weigh more than shot and handled in dry and consequently lose more weight as it dries out.
Sometimes though it's something we tried to avoid but in rare occassions a beast had to be left on the hill overnight
standard practice was to add Ilb per stone for weight loss that had occured overnight it's not an exact science and it will
vary but as a rule of thumb its not far off.
As to my remark of a 20st stag being possibly closer to 18st when collected by the Gamedealer some dealers collect twice a week some once a week some when you call them to tell them you need a collection.
A stag that weighed into the larder at 20st could indeed be getting close to 18st when weighed a week later.

I had one dressed @ 111kg which after 3 days was 108kg when I called in to pick up my money...

Yes I remember that sika well, twisted my knee trying to get it out of a ditch.
As you know we have some big stags in Staffordshire. This one is massive (not my photo)
A local fella into his wildlife puts trail cameras out.
