Well, the farmer told me that the two new Guns, (along with the rest of the syndicate) had paid their subs. and so I could go and invest in the infrastructure of the shoot.
Another ten Manola sets, plus stands for all eighteen on the the shoot. I had been using tyres to lift the Manola but the stands do a better job of it. I have now used the tyres to add some weight to the lids and try and keep the deer out. Sheep on the other hand - nothing can keep them out. I have two feeders in a field that currently has sheep and lambs.
The feeders (and tyres) have been scattered to the four corners of the field. Really quite impressive. Just one of those things you have to live with.
I have also bought some drinkers, but not entirely sure that they are robust enough - we shall see.
The plan is to increase the feed, not just for the birds we do put down, but for the wild English Partridge and wild birds in general. I saw our covey of twelve again today. Always brings a smile to my face.
What does not bring a smile to my face in another fly tip. I think the plastic cans with have oil therein, and this must encourage illegal disposal to those morons who are predisposed to behave like this. I am out and about at all hours on the farm and yet somehow they manage to commit these offences without my being there. Damned annoying.
Anyhoo.
A hot bath and a cold beer awaits...
