Suspended Gralloch... WHY?!

I must point out that i am not meaning to be argumentative but informative which I thought was the reason for a forum.
When I am at home I kill Cattle, Sheep, Pigs and Chickens all are hung to clean and skin, I have the equipment to do it I also often kill with the county ministry vets present so the meat can go on and be sold..
I do not have that option on the hill or in the forests of northern Scotland, nor do hundreds of other people.
If any of us took the time and effort to get into a position to suspend the animal it would already be past its best
Now this is not the case in other areas of the UK, where suspended gralloch is not only possible but normally preferred.
Now when I myself am stalking in England and I manage to get a beast, I still choose to do it on the ground, unless its at the side of the car! the reason is quite simple, I do not have the strength in my fingers, hands, shoulders or back to haul animals aloft with manual tools. I find it far kinder on my body to sit on the ground and perform a gralloch there in comfort, but that me. everyone can and does choose their own method.
whats is a certainty is the one can be performed anywhere by anybody the other cannot.
I hope that explains my thoughts better.

The OP posts a contentious post about hill stalking and is correct in that situation but makes it a general comment about all grallochs and then later after being overly anti any other ideas accepts that he is talking about one situation.

If he had been specific in the first place he wouldn’t have caused all the hissy fits but then that was probably his intention!

You’ve just described the premise of 2/3s of SD posts…

9 Pages of bollocks. What has it got to do with anyone how someone chooses to gralloch and really, who cares?

It makes a very clean, neat, easy job of the gralloch.
You don't need a gambrel, I've used a handy branch or a fence before now to get the gravitational pull.
The extra height works for me, nobody says you have to, but I think in combination with a "single wipe" technique it's a safer way to put meat into the food chain

OK, I'll be specific then.

If you need to get the job done quickly and efficiently, then there is no time or space (or trees!) for a suspended gralloch.

Lovers of theatrics and procedures (St. Hubert Club members?) will certainly disagree.

A lot of my culling is in the woods, I need to move on to the next one. On the deck is clean, efficient and quick. No interest in lugging around more gear, no time to extract it, find suitable tree branch, rig up system of pulleys, string and mini gambrel.

But but but... you have trees! No excuses!!!

Yup - it had obviously been couched for some time (the poo pipe was similarly rather full) but I did get it to stand to the shot. Any advice on how to get it to pee too.........................
Thats good because you end up with what this thread is....a heap of shite.....
