Out of Africa...

I think you can fly Ethiopian Airlines into Maputo. I’ve flown to Namibia several times with them and found them fine. Reasonable prices also. The first trip was €466 return, couldn’t believe until we were on the plane.

My old workmate from Detroit and Stuttgart "Terry Keogh a good Norfolk chap" was another brit working on the same contract with GM and also a target shooter and was well into his black powder as I was. His story I loved, was him doing his UK national service back in the 60s it must have been as he was 10 years older than I, they sent him out to, he said the Kings African Rifles in Kenya as an armourers assistant. Not much to do over there and he teamed up with a posh local brit who invited him to go on a free lion hunt, he slipped out of the barracks with a scoped sniper .303 Enfield and did the dirty deed then he sneaked it back into its box covered in scratches.

Well we are committed.

The first leg is booked.

Qatar - Gatwick to Jo'berg.

The team member is today going to try and book the Jo'Berg to Pemba leg.

Then there is the Charter into Camp.

I just need to start shuffling funds from some of my very many off-shore accounts...🤥

Be interested to know costs of jo burg leg plus difficulties, if any, with firearm carriage 👍👍

Nowhere near so exotic but just checked in to Stena Ferry for Scotland in Belfast and got third degree from an idiot who I was passed to without any spoken words by the female security guard when I first declared firearms. I repeated my declared firearms and told “it” they were booked in a week ago then it started:-
“carrying firearms - yes as declared; ammunition - yes c/f bullets and shotgun; so you’re carrying “weapons“ and ammunition - yes; any cartridges - yes for the shotgun; how many - 100 in 4 boxes; what about bullets (sigh) yes; how many - 40 in boxes for the c/f rifle; are they all in boxes (further sigh) - yes; how many in total - 140 (I should have said 600); are they in a locked case - yes; (I could see the eyes narrowing above “it’s” mask); carrying any brass - pardon (do I look like a scrapmerchant); shotgun brass - do you mean empty cartridges; no for the shotgun - Err, Shotgun ammunition is not brass however c/f rifle ammunition, generally comprised of a lead (don’t go there!) bullet and a brass case is generally known as “brass”, hence my confusion at your question; have you any empty cases (wot?) - no, all my “cases“ are full because I am going shooting; sharp intake of breath - Gate 2.
The adventure begins……..

ps - why would he ask if I had any empty cases?

Thank you sir. After 4 frustrating fog-bound days in October I am really looking forward to it! Of course my pleasure is significantly diminished as Mrs FB cannot make it this time. This of course will mean that her medal buck will not get mentioned. Every cloud……….
