First walked-up day on our wee shoot...

Just getting ready for tomorrow's walked-up day.

There will only be three or four Guns. I shall be breaking out the .410.

It will be the first time in a year, that I will have walked out in the countryside with a shotgun under my arm.

The other Guns will be one of the regular Guns, one of the lads who turned out for most of our shoot days with this flushing Spaniel and (perhaps) the Farmer.

MrsS62 has sent me off to Waitrose to buy some bits and pieces, to try and make it into a half-decent day. She is unable to join us and so the 'hosting' will be left to me.

I buy a bottle of Sloe Gin (sacrilege I know) and decide that the bottle of fizz left over after the 'formal' days can safely be 'donated' to this day.

I had a walk-up last year with the same regular Gun and we managed a bag of twelve between us.

Will report back on the day at stumps tomorrow.

Three, possibly four Guns.

Probably be out for about four hours.

Anyone fancy guessing the bag? Most accurate (species and numbers) will win.

Winner will be sent at copy of "The Sniper Anthology" - I accidentally bought two copies and so the second could go to a good home.

on our shoot we shoot 12 days all walk and stand. it is the purest form of hunting and most rewarding shooting over your dog's.every bird is hard earned .best sport ever!

You had me at them pork pies, can't find them over here in Canada anymore - cheap knock offs, even the brown sauce is the cheap stuff
11 birds total with plenty more missed opportunities

this could be a stingray moment ( anything could happen in the next 60 minutes)if you know where the quote is from you are as old as me?8 pheasant 1 pigeon and 2duck good hunting

I loved doing walked up shooting with my dad when he was alive, spend my teenage years doing it most weekends throughout the season. It's somting il never forget.

Pocket full of cartridges game bag and dog in tow.

I don't think anything can beat it, wild duck fighting is a very close second.

410 ideal for flap flap bang 😆

Just leave me with the pork pies, sausage rolls and a glass of Sloe Gin and I’d be happy.

Best form of game shooting for me is shooting over pointing dogs, have a great productive day and my optimistic guess would be 22 mixed bag.
