As the BBC actually make the programmes rather than commission them or buy them in, surely the presenters must be employed by the BBC, it's probably just a Tax dodge to say they are self employed, in fact the BBC got into a lot of bother doing this a few years ago. Michaela Strachan lives in South Africa, so the pay must be quite good for her to do a commute that long.
One other thing that baffles me, is that packham states he is the Stepfather of Megan McCubbin, (who he has nicely shoe-horned into the programmes he is in), which he can only claim to be if he is actually married to her mother, so is he secretly married?
