No they haven't. 'They' keep twittering on about 'fights', but offer no suggestions as to how to carry on this 'fight', in between blaming our organisations for not engaging in this mythical 'fight'
Gum bumping.

Of course the implications are massive; we need to be pre-emptive, seize the initiative and get on with developing and improving the alternatives. Or, pretend its not going to happen and end up with nothing.

And who exactly is the WE given we virtually import all ammunition, cartridges and components to assemble them, from outside the U.K. Gamebore being the only exception for cartridges in the U.K. making a biodegradable wad.
Copper bullets are technically not difficult to make on a small sliding head cnc lathe.

What I would like to know is if there are thousands of birds and wildfowl poisoned with lead why is it you don't see all these dead birds when you are out walking where ever. Has anybody come across masses of dead wildfowl lying about .

It just doesn't work like that ! Lead is definitely taken in as grit for the gizzard by wildfowl , it totally proven and unfortunately we have hundreds of years of lead being exposed with every tide . Inland flighponds will also have thier fair share
However when it comes to say shooting rats and feral pigeon etc , so long as tge carcass is removed so it cannot be scavenged by raptors or other scavenging bids there is no issue
Fact is people couldn't even Bury deer grallochs , so we end up with a ban and now we moan ? This is why we need to remember effective voluntary compliance is better than legislation.

NARGC did a duck gizzard survey two years ago, the results were not enthusiastically received in Europe, even in heavily shot areas of the foreshore pick up was rare.

Why is it for more years than I care to imagine lead has been used for shooting and although I understand it can be a toxic substance how many people have been proven have suffered ill health or death from it? You'd have to eat a hell of a lot of lead for a detrimental effect surely!?
There was something in the media yonks ago about early settlers in north America having large amounts of lead shot accumulated in their stomachs somewhere, but they were still alive.

I think Bird Flu has killed a lot this Winter. Several people have commented that there don't seem to be as many Canada Geese flighting as in recent years.

Europe to ban all lead ammunition...has anyone thought to tell Mr Putin of the dangers of using lead ammo? I hear he's got a big pile of the stuff in 7.62x39.

He might well have but the troops in his army today, 2022, will have weapons using 5.45 x 39 cartridges.

Dr Matt Ellis, BASC’s head of science and chair of the European Federation of Hunting Association’s (FACE) ammunition working group, said: “BASC is working closely with FACE in reviewing the lead ammunition ban proposals and is in a good position to submit a detailed response. Taken from the first BASC link
BASC came up with a voluntary lead phase out in the famous statement made in 2021 - I cant date it precisely since BASC dont put dates on their stuff. © 2021 BASC – British Association for Shooting and Conservation.
The key things are emboldened.

BASC will not do an about FACE, citing health reasons at the time as their explanation of why Brexit will make no difference.

hypocritical how the EU is going on about Lead and it’s toxicity .
There’s more lead in Flanders and the other EU battle fields and the locals have wildlife and don’t die at a young age so where is the evidence shooting needs to stop ?
The Reach problem strangely does not mention lead leaching off roofing or water pipes ??? Wonder why not !
Because the EU would have to fund or give tax breaks to help fund the removal

The irony of banning lead ammunition yet they are quite happy to use depleted uranium in military weapons and during conflicts.

There were some French shooting organisations who honestly believed that EU gun laws were driven by the U.K. and we’re glad to see Brexit… oops.

That said, the figures are really quite small. 100K birds a year die from ingesting lead, according to the LAG (Lead Ammunition Group). About the same number that are killed by wind farms, according to the RSPB. But studies reckon 55 Million, yes FIFTY FIVE MILLION birds are killed by cats… in the U.K…. every year!!!

Not enough people are told to STFU.
