60g VMAX

Hi folks I'm looking some load data for 60g Vmax using N133 1:8 twist .223

Looks an interesting bullet. I wonder if the 60gr Nosler Varmint Ballistic tips would be worth a try as good BC there.

I use 60gr STMK in my 1:8 twist barrel, very effective but you will get pass through 9 times out of 10. Does the job very well but a lighter 50 or 55gr may dump it's energy better

Nice one. I have Ramshot X-Terminator and TAC to try but if they don’t work might look at RS40

Thanks. Got good results with TAC and 65gr Sierra Game King SBTs but very dirty with the 55gr FMJ BT.

I shall try both. Am also trying to nail down a 55gr Nosler E-Tip load. So far X-Terminator has promise.

I really like ramshot powder, not least because they meter beautifully out of a cheap Lee thrower.

Are you still after some Lil gun or did you get sorted?

Same here.
I use 24 grains x 133 for 53 and 55 grain Sierra bullets. No idea on velocity but they group nicely.

The best 3 loads i have developed through my t3x 1 in 8 twist super varmint are, 60g Vmax over 21.7g of N135, 55g Vmax over 21.8g N133 and 55g Nosler varmageddon F/B tipped over 22.4g N135. Hope this is food for thought

I use 23.6gr N133 using a 55gr Sierra bullet for almost match accuracy with the #1390's but am VERY wary of Vhit's recommended loads for 60gr as in all cases, using N133, I've gas cut my bolt loading anywhere close to Vhit's max recommended load when using 60gr Vmax. If you look at Hornady's website, the V-Max max load is recommended as 22.2gr N133 and that's on the hot side according to them. Vmax flat base have a longer side wall and generate more pressure than the boat tail 55gr bullets so I wouldn't go anywhere near the Vhit max recommended 60gr loads for those, as Vhit data I think is for the boat tails. Just thought it worth a mention.

However, accuracy wise, Sierra gamekings take some beating. Shame about the current supply issues which are now forcing me to rethink my 223 bullet choice.
