Finally got off my quoit and dusted off a few dog traps, oiled seven,laid four only
They needed a good oil in parts so I boiled some peanut oil,a few drops of fish sauce and when cooled enough I added a whipped can of sardines.
We had a 20 cubic metre bonfire up in the paddock after the local brewery 70th for me and next morning cooked up a feed of steaks on a grill over left over coals.
A pack of wild dogs were heard howling on the hill while we cooked,they (4-5) were seen at Easter here and the song was the catalyst to get me trapping.
1st trap set on both dog and bitch pi$$ on grass clump at bush entrance (my dogs) aka ground zero
2nd trap set under a tree where my dogs showed great interest,the tree received a smear of Italian Gorgonzola and the trap sponge got a dose of the fish soup. GZ +300yards.
3rd trap set on end of fallen log that my dog pi$$es on every time he passes received a dose of the soup. GZ opp direction 250 yards
4th trap set at a dead cows rib frame got 2 gallons of deer guts and rainwater that has been in my ute since Good Friday,hanging from a hook from top of dog crate so it didnt slosh...its what some may say is ripe. GZ 400 yards.
