Met waiting times for variations and change of conditions

Dear All,

I just wanted to see if anyone else is having issues with the met FET dept,

I sent in my FAC as advised around 8 weeks ago for it to be reprinted in order to have my primary club condition changed and have not heard anything,

I have tried to call my FEO numerous times as well as the switchboard number, and never had a response, I took the bold step of emailing them this morning declaring the FAC lost as I have the tracking number saying it was signed for on the 21st of March, but have heard nothing back. I stated I need to have it for upcoming competitions and to purchase ammunition for that reason, hopefully they will get back to me.

I'm a patient man, all I require is an acknowledgement they received my FAC and are processing it, my concern is this

I know of 5 people in the various clubs I shoot, whom are with the Met, all of which have had their FAC's misplaced/lost by the FET admin dept., and have had to declare them lost! All of them had issues with mistakes on their FAC's one person even had 10 Long barreled pistols to be acquired, even though he hadn't actually requested them!

Conversely most of the other shooters who had issues, where advised to declare their FAC's as lost and had their FAC's returned where in less than two weeks, it has now been 8 weeks and I have still not heard anything or had a reply or call back from my FEO or the admin team. I'm really reluctant to make a complaint, but I see no other way of getting my FAC back in a timely manner, if at all, my renewal comes up in may 2023 and im hoping ill get my ticket back before then,

My Ex partner who moved address in January is in the same boat, nothing but being ignored, for the last 5 months

One FEO even admitted to a fellow club member that the admin team are a constant source of frustration for him and his team!

As an NHS frontline worker I have had to "tough it out" during Covid and I think some of the "youths" working for the Met FET admin team are being a tad lazy

Slightly different circumstances, but as a holder of a SGC I submitted an application for a coterminous SGC/FAC to the Met six months ago. I sent it signed for and the cheque has been cashed. I have heard nothing since, except for very vanilla responses to my emails - the first stating that it typically takes 3-6 months, the second simply asking me to be patient as they are very busy.......

All sorted, My FEO has been brilliant, it took a while, but credit where it is due,

I feel for the FEO's as they are underpaid and there is clearly not enough funding or staff in the admin office,

Much like where I work in the NHS people often complain my IT dept. is slow until they come to our office and see how understaffed and overstretched we are as a department.
