Advice wanted: Non FAC air rifle for ratting and NV scope.

I’m looking for advice on a setup for a non FAC air rifle and NV combo for ratting on a chicken farm. Nothing fancy wanted, purely to do a job budget ideally around £700, no idea if that is a realistic target as a budget…air rifles are not something I’ve been into for a long time.

NP03 is a compact side cocking PCP rifle with adjustable butt stock and will give you 60+ shots between 11 and 12ft. lbs. 300 bar fill 190cc cylinder that you can use with a handpump relatively easily.

Get the scope and Pard SH, and will be no more than your budget. HW100 new are over £700 just for the rifle.

Yeah, i wouldn't buy new personally, can be found for less with a scope mod etc for much less occasionally.

As for pellets, try rws hobby in .22/ they hit like .25cal

I have a gamo phox .177 for a similar job. Not fancy but it continues to do the job well. It comes in a complete kit as well- mod, scope, bag and pump (bit of effort required!!). It likes JSB exact diabolo 8.44gr.

You might get a brobock plus a pard 008 for that , 177 if i was you.

Realistically, just about any precharged rifle will do the job admirably. Most will shoot pellet on pellet at 25yds if you do your bit. My .22" HW100 is silly accurate at that range and you have to shoot a number of different targets and then over-lay them to judge groups because the pellets all seem to go through a hole of about 6mm diameter. In the past I have been accused of shooting one shot and them missing the whole card with the rest of them when shooting a single target
Personally I'd stick with a .22 for ratting as ranges are unlikely to exceed 25yds so it'll be easy to learn your hold-over/ hold-under for anything between 5 and 25yds even with the more curved trajectory of the heavier, slower, pellet. I like the .22 because it always seems to give a better 'thump' on target but others will prefer the greater speed and flatter trajectory of the .177.
There's always the 'happy medium' of the .20 if you can find one
As for NV .. I'd go for anything I can get cheap that'll do the job (S/H Photon ?) as it's silly to over spend if it's just for a bit of farmyard ratting IMO.

hw97k with a pard 007 on top will do the job very accurate hard hitting rifle in 177 calibre if you can run to it Daystate wolverine in PCP is what I use with 007 ragged hole 35 yds brilliant piece of kit, will knock over Rats and Rabbits with ease at 35 yds

You can probs get a new package on a Walther RM8 for £500.
It will hang with a lot more expensive rifles and do an honest job.

Little bsa ultra bought second hand £250- cheap hawk scope with parallax, you’ll get a s/h one off eBay- loads of old pard 007’s for sale on here and other places!
Been using this set up for ratting and farm yard pest control for years.
Owned nearly every pcp mentioned above and this little bsa will match any, never been cleaned since I bought it and never failed once.

Any decent PCP air rifle (preferably with a large/ spare magazine) with a NV scope. One of the used Yukon ones would do just fine and be within your budget. It works during day and night and stays on the rifle all the time unlike something you need to fix to a normal scope. Zeroed it, you can even record your adventures (based on the model) and do the vermin control you require.

Been told not to do this as once its on a FAC, its almost impossible to take it off FAC even if you convert it back to sub 12f/lb.

Cheaper than buying two!
