Advice wanted: Non FAC air rifle for ratting and NV scope.

Any PCP with a multishot magazine.
I found the Pard 008 field of vision to narrow for close range rats so as everyone else has said go for the pard 007, with a good laser IR.

Hw 100k , bsa ultra , bsa r10
All .177 with pard 007 or 008
Personally 007 will be absolutely fine with a discovery scope or hawke on BSA ultra se or pay a bit more and buy the best sub 12 ever made HW100K
.177 will sell better if you decide to sell and fantastic on rats , rabbits , squirrels, pigeons from close range to 60 or so yards

Little bsa ultra bought second hand £250- cheap hawk scope with parallax, you’ll get a s/h one off eBay- loads of old pard 007’s for sale on here and other places!
Been using this set up for ratting and farm yard pest control for years.
Owned nearly every pcp mentioned above and this little bsa will match any, never been cleaned since I bought it and never failed once. View attachment 266833
I 2nd the Humble BSA Ultra, mine is an original MMC model, had it from new, and it's shot thousands of rats around pig units, .177 flavor for me, Optisan EVE 3-12 scope with a Pard 007, never misses a beat. In the 16 years I've owned it I've only had one set of seals replaced and that was two years ago. Awesome accuracy!

I’m looking for advice on a setup for a non FAC air rifle and NV combo for ratting on a chicken farm. Nothing fancy wanted, purely to do a job budget ideally around £700, no idea if that is a realistic target as a budget…air rifles are not something I’ve been into for a long time.

Cheers all.
You'll get a flipping good 2nd hand setup for that sort of money. Have a look on the airgun forum to get an idea. Good shot count is a must, the last thing you want is to have to keep regassing, Airarms S410, BSA Ultra/R10 are all cheap reliable options.

as already said any decent pre-charge will do the job well

NV wise ....field of view can be narrow ....best option for budget including rifle personally is Pard007a and IF can source one 12mm lens not 16mm version as it gives wider field of view for air rifle ranges

scope wise you can get a cheaper side paralex useable scope and preferable low mag range say 2xor 2.5x to whatever .....and can screw mag up to suit BUT still got field of view for close work at low mag close range ... this allow you to use goodold glass sight picture thru the day but allows use NV at night and get best out of it for intended application

cheers

If you are sub 12 then .177 is the best choice re traj.

You can buy ultra lightweight and uber heavy weight so they can overlap re traj iro the .22. But if its general sub 12 then why limit yourself

For close stuff I switch to either a hollow point or my rifle really likes the JSB Predators. Both will plant stuff on the spot.

The PCP mag fed rifle is the way to go. Fit is king so choose one that fits you and that you like.

If you want dedicated scope or NV add on.... its easy.

I still have a photon. Its considered old hat but they are cheap and they WORK - VERY VERY WELL in fact. You can also wire in a car reversing camera which helps if your in position for a long time.
