Catapult hunting

Wahoooo! This reads exactly like my first encounter with the fair sex, err, except for the “extension” bit of course……

Ah wahoooo! The pult been the same era as chasing and running down the girls who if they liked you would fall over in just the right spot, followed by a good healthy coming of age wrestle, the more willing for some reason would run and try and hide in the straw den🤣 knowing what I know now the pult could have put to purpose🤪 in fact I may buy another for both indoor and outdoor use🙂

Catapults are very under estimated.
In the right hands that are a very deadly short range (30m)weapon.
Personally speaking I have probably had more pheasants poached with catapults
than by any other weapon over the years. Either hit in the head or a broken neck.

Re bushcraft, it’s just a woke commercialised term for what myself and any country lad did, learnt from there elders and peers.

I agree its so commercialised with gear and the like when reality its about less gear more skill , " the more you know the less you carry"

Oh dear,”dealing” with members of the public is not for me. I much prefer to greet/engage with or even (gosh- just imagine) stop and pass the time of day. You should try it some time, your world and perhaps theirs may be the better for it.
And bashing of the police forces across your beautiful country and mine at this time of day is really not for me but I do hope that in this case at least you feel the better for it. I can only assume you have good reasons for so doing but best perhaps that we draw a discreet veil …….
Continue to enjoy your particular ivory tower my friend.

You seem to have a unique talent for assigning your own rather negative interpretation of other peoples actions without a scintilla of evidence to back it up.
Enjoy your day, it’s going to be a belter.😎

I love hunting with a catty
I used to, I once nailed a fox with a 1/2” ball bearing. I got a fair bit of small game but the lack of accuracy drove me nuts, I was using pebbles most of the time. I haven’t even made one for over 20 years, my Mrs disapproved of me giving them to the neighbours kids..

Killed a Kingfisher with a catapult aged 9, and a mynah bird with a blowpipe aged 13, beat that! (Blowpipe illegal under the 1988 Criminal Justice Act)

I'll add that this was in a former colony which had no such laws to the contrary...
Yeah? Well ummm…I killed a Great Auk with a rock.
Bushcraft at its best!

Reading through this thread should I pick one up?

I figured they were illegal as they were a projectile like bows but I'm seeing birds and rabbits in here.

Don't know if there's a law in the UK against them but I wouldn't want to get caught with one. Or have to explain a dead pigeon in a bag from the local park. They're a poachers tool and that's how it will look when you're caught with one. I wouldn't run the risk IMO. Too much at stake with having guns etc.

Here in Ireland they're classed as an offensive weapon.
