What tyres for Toyota Hilux?

Hi Folks - this may have been covered but I couldn’t see anything clear jumping out at me.

I’m getting a Hilux soon and was wondering what the best all round all terrain tyre would be?

I currently have the BF Goodrich KO2’s On my Ranger. No issues there. I’m often off-road either because of stalking or trailering my fishing boat round the country so often launching from beaches etc

Anyone got any preference for the Hilux or should I just stick with the BFG AT KO2’s?

Thanks
Alex

Round ones, preferably not flat at the bottom 👍🏻
I'd go road bias because although I'm not sure I guess that is where the vehicle might be most. And just drop the tyre pressures if it looks bad off road.

Just put BF Goodrich AT on my HiLux.. really pleased. Best price was from Halfords.

Ive got BF Goodrich AT's on my pick up with no problems at all, Is it a new Hilux your getting and how long have you had to wait if you don't mind me asking, I ordered one around 14month ago and been told it will now be Feb at the earliest before it arrives.

wouldn't go back to BF's, compound went to shjite after they moved production to the Far East, not enough grip in the mud, not enough on wet/icy roads, and they don't last nearly as long as others costing far less.

Nokian Rockproof - awesome! their Rotiiva AT is also very good indeed, far less progressive, but really 'sticks' to wet and icy roads, remarkable value for money

I had 265/65/r18 BFG KO2s on mine which I really didn’t like, noisy, poor off road performance and terrible on wet roads.

Switched to 255/70/r18 Goodyear Duratrac which are far better on and off road and much better handling on wet roads.

Yes new and yes been waiting AGES! Mine supposedly arriving in December??

Will look into this. Never heard anyone use these before. So with the 70 you get an additional 5cm clearance so presumably 750mm if it the newish Hilux?

The Duratrac fit straight on to a mk8 Hilux (2016-2020) without any modifications needed.
Very minor rubbing on the front wheels when on full lock on uneven ground but very very minor.
I got mine through Tyreleader and fitted locally which was really straightforward and about £155 each a couple of years ago.

Have to agree about the newer BFs. I replaced mine and I have had roughly 10/15000 less on the newer versions. I will be going to the Cooper Discovery’s next as they are more than £100 cheaper each.

After 9 years on BFGs across 2 different Hiluxes I had these fitted to my Hilux today - front left rubs slightly, which is annoying, but 150miles driving in very wet roads they were excellent. It's a shame they don't have a wider size range over here. MPG is down from the Duellers but that's no surprise, wet grip is significantly better than the duellers which still had a fair bit of life in them.
Definitely worthy of consideration and at £155 fitted per tyre vs £270 for BFG ATs...

Yokohama Geolandar GO15, very good on the road, and very competent off road. Unless you're ploughing through parks that demand mud tyres, definitely worth your consideration.
As an aside, I used to run BFG AT,but as mentioned above, once they went to the newer style, they became dangerous on wet/cold road, and didn't balance properly.

I sneaked mine off the cancellation list and got it after only 4 weeks ;)
