Post your rifle setup including weight

My perception of light seems to be waaay off!
Has something happened?
Have the devalued the pound weight as well now or have blokes got bigger?
When I were a lad, light was 6-7lb.
Medium 8-9 and heavy 10-12.
Open sights have virtually disappeared, the typical scope has bulked up on features and weight, and moderators came around.

Though for those who really want to, it's still possible to get down to about six pounds including scope and mod.

I’ve notice a few pictures where rifles have no slings…. does anyone stalk like that or is it just for pictures?
When woodland stalking i don’t use a sling, preferring to carry ready for use. I do alway have a sling in my pocket for when it’s needed.
Ken.
I usually take them off in the house as they get in the way in the cabinet. Generally use a twin strapped neoprene sling like the one I bought from you.

I use a Kifaru Gunbearer so no sling required mate 👍🏻
Used to use a Z aim but found it a little bit of a faff to use quickly and didn’t like the strap dangling when the rifle was in use.

It's almost twin is 6.5x47 Lapua, 24" Bartlein Sendero profile barrel. Rem 700 S/A, PSE E-Tac stock, Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44, Hardy mkV moderator, with 4 in the mag and Z-Aim sling 11Lb 0oz. Used primarily for Fallow and Red & Sika hinds.

280ai, 26" PacNor super match grade barrel in #5 profile. Rem 700 L/A, B&C stock, Swarovski Z5 5-25x52, Hardy mkIV moderator, with 4 in the mag and Z-Aim sling 10Lb 9oz. Used primarily for Red & Sika stags but has also taken Moose, Chamois, Mouflon and Boar.

All weights without bipods as I use a Spartan across all three now which I carry on my belt. A Harris would have add an extra 13oz to each rifle.

My Rem 700 titanium is 6Lb 1oz bare. Lovely to carry about all day.

Same here: sometimes the sling stays off in the field, and it’s removed for storage as well. It’s a simple nylon quick-adjust type so the weight is pretty minimal at under 100 grams including hardware.

Putting the rifle on a diet by deleting the forend widener, cheek riser, and bipod gets things under 4 kg loaded with moderator, and 3.8 without. Not the lightest, but with a 56-mm scope and a 570-mm barrel, it could be worse.

The riser is nice to have, but it’s no problem to hold a steady position without it; simply switch to holding against the upper jaw instead of the cheekbone. There’s another 50-ish grams that can be quickly shaved off by swapping to the skinny grip and removing the bipod mount.
