Open sights have virtually disappeared, the typical scope has bulked up on features and weight, and moderators came around. My perception of light seems to be waaay off!
Has something happened?
Have the devalued the pound weight as well now or have blokes got bigger?
When I were a lad, light was 6-7lb.
Medium 8-9 and heavy 10-12.
I prefer lower powered optic and have never felt the need for high mag for stalking. Generally I engage deer within 200 yds and basically most centrefires are point and shoot at this distanceHow do you find the 1-4 (assuming it’s used for stalking)?
Usually good in low light too.I prefer lower powered optic and have never felt the need for high mag for stalking. Generally I engage deer within 200 yds and basically most centrefires are point and shoot at this distance
Balance definitely vital, but you can have both! Its not weight , its balance imo !
I usually take them off in the house as they get in the way in the cabinet. Generally use a twin strapped neoprene sling like the one I bought from you.I’ve notice a few pictures where rifles have no slings…. does anyone stalk like that or is it just for pictures?
When woodland stalking i don’t use a sling, preferring to carry ready for use. I do alway have a sling in my pocket for when it’s needed.

I use a Kifaru Gunbearer so no sling required mateI’ve notice a few pictures where rifles have no slings…. does anyone stalk like that or is it just for pictures?

Same here: sometimes the sling stays off in the field, and it’s removed for storage as well. It’s a simple nylon quick-adjust type so the weight is pretty minimal at under 100 grams including hardware.I’ve notice a few pictures where rifles have no slings…. does anyone stalk like that or is it just for pictures?
