Which lone worker/tracking app or device??

Hi, I go stalking on my own about 4 times a week over many different estates /farms. Often knowbody actually knows where I am. I would like my wife to know where I am if anything were to happen she could then point the landowners or friends in the right direction. Much of the ground I cover has little or no signal. Does this rule out the phone based apps? If so doe I need a sattelite linked device? If so what do others use and recommend.....obviously don't want to spend a fortune.
Any help much apprceiated, George

I was told the best were SOS "watches" where you activate them and they send a signal.

Other things to carry might be a whistle, a survival metal blanket, a smoke flare and a waterproof LED torch?

We use at work an app run by people safe, and for areas where signal is very poor or zero, I have just been told a SpotX device is on its way it can be a standalone device or can be run along side our app. The only downsides are cost approx £20 per month alongside the app, and like all devices requiring signal of any kind tree cover is its enemy.

garmin in reach system is pretty much the best out there - in terms of global/remote coverage. It is pricy, and you require a subscription to the Garmin-inreach system.

SPOT devices - are okay, but dont have the functionality that garmin has. The SPOT device relies upon some man/woman in an office in america calling/contacting your NOK/emergency contact to notify them of the fact you are man down in the middle of nowhere - whereas the irridium network of the garmin devices should thoretically send the blue lights straight to you (situation dependant).

What if the scenario is such that you are unable to activate the alarm? A system need to raise an alarm automatically if you do not log off at a predetermined time as well as the user being able to mechanically being able to activate the alarm

I use a Garmin fore runner, it detects a sudden fall, and if you are motionless sends a text to your ICE number, also it can detect a heart issue if you set a warning level of BPM.

Of course Garmin and Inreach lead the way in this stuff

I could set it so my ICE can follow me, but thats too much information to give away:lol:

The Garmin Inreach basic plan isn’t that much, price wise and can be stopped and started per month. The Garmin mini is tiny and sounds like it will do all you need and more if you ever wanted.

Or just a more proactive system. What3words, or OS loocate, or even just the sinple maps on your phone and share your location with your best beloved or somebody else regularly.

If you're in places where there is signal from other mobile networks from yours, then this might be a possibility

but if you're in a place with no coverage from any network then it'll be no good.
This is what special shooting contractors use🤫 so must be good. I don't think you need a signal but will check.
