What breed of gun dog and why

I've found with cockers not to raise your voice to them. They take it personal and won't talk to you for the rest of the day. They also sh1t in front of the pen gate so you have to do a double quick step to get their dishes. There a breed that'll keep a smile on your face even when your chomping on the whistle. Cocker owners will always get in conversation with other cocker owners if only for them to tell you how much their little bastards have tried to break them. What's not to like about the little f@?ckers. The big bonus is when working cocker owners die they go straight to heaven because god knows you've served hell on earth. Cockers yes please.

This sums mine up almost exactly. Been a wonderful, fun and sometimes difficult dog but she is lovely

Ess the only dog to be born wit ADHD but a wud not have any think else 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
A hear people say get a cocker there much more biddable NO same breed just sold colour both dogs will put 110 % used to do lot of beating in Northumberland wud hear when the lil dogs no here the birds arnt there enough said

A pointer ? for beating ? Just what you don't want really in a thick woodland , walking guns on the moor with the pointers out ranging in front fair enough but Beating ? Get a Lab if you want a big one a cocker if its a small one or a springer if its a middle sized one . There is a lot of history to why these breeds dominate in that task !

dark one at 16 weeks old!! get a chesapeake

iv always liked this breed
I wanted one for years but they're as rare as they come. Lucked out eventually through complete chance that a friend of a friend had a litter the same week I'd "given up" trying to find one.

He has bundles of character and incredibly intelligent. In other words, he can be a PITA and amazing all at once. Much like a collie dog IMO.

Only a pup at the moment but seems to have just settled and respecting commands, not just listening to them!

Andy Platt from Nithvalley Kennels imported working Laggotos to fill the gap you mention. He is into FT with his spaniels and has trained other dogs

My 17 month old gives my daughter 9, 6 and 5 a run for their money when it comes to sulking after being told off.

Last cocker came to me as a part trained one year old and my wife misses him sorely, he was inherited following a death not sought as part trained.

She misses him so much so she openly states she hates the lab and professes we should never have had another dog. What she forgets is we missed all the hard work of a pup and the fact the cocker scratched through the new sofa on the first night it was delivered 🤣

A local lad has a cocker cross lab and it looks like a lab just a bit bigger than a lab. Not sure how it works and which traits it has. Probably the worst ones from both….

For purely picking up a good strong Labrador dog or bitch.
For beating and picking up got to be cockers. Too much picking up they sometimes hide things. Had quite a few cockers and some fantastic labs over fifty years.
For deer borders or if you are slightly nuts yourself a teckel.😜

I had heard they can be a bit head strong.

We will keep taking advice and try to see a few different breed’s before we make any decisions.

Being honest our Ella actually chose us.
There was a litter of 9 and she was the only one that stopped playing and came over to me, got on my lap and wanted to see us.
Happened to also be the only bitch available in the litter.
labs are good and make great family pets if you want a change
