this was a cull day 5 deer for roughly £400 bargain but all very young bucks or does.
as a Scotsman, it was very tricky to identify what was a young and old doe as I don't have that much experience. but it was very clear which ones would have caused me to remortgage.
these animals are very different to anything I have stalked in the past and with them rooming the middle of most fields its a tricky should taking distance and their size into comparison without a ranage finder they can lead you to double guess yourself.
id definitely recommend with the venison tasting very nice.

Cracking stiff Jaime. I was going to ask if they were long shots?
Did you stalk with Paul or a stalker? I ask because you say you were expected to identify the animal to cull. Was that left to you?
The price is pretty damn good. I’ve seen single cull animals for £200.

there was about 8 of us out on the day all give area to shoot so left alone.
trophy animals were £850 supposedly. which I think is crazy. two animals head shots furthest being 134 yards and theres engine room due to my own excitement really and not having the confidence just yet for this new species.
That is expensive for a medal. Nice to be left alone but a spendy mistake should one be made.
Distances not too far then. It’s all good and well fold professing to long shots but we all get Buck fever in reality that adrenalin rush gets us all to some extent. Glad you had a great time and it was worth the trip. Definitely sounds like value for money to me.

7 hour drive from glasgow but now looking to knock my fallow and muntjac off neither of. which sound cheap or. very close to get.
Fallow will certainly be closer but good numbers of muntjac might be a similar drive.
Happy hunting and I look forward to more write ups. I need to do one for my Chinese I took in February.

Its shite like this ^^ that will get guided stalks banned.
Muntjac are an invasive species, and need to be shot on sight, not have the genetics pool improved and sustained to the detriment of habitat and native species.
Pure greed on the part of some outfitters, but nothing surprises anymore - how else do they pay for the lease they snap up from locals who do the job for free.....
I drive past those fields on a regular basis and I see dozens of CWD sunning themselves in the open.
Instead of being shot they are kept like park animals waiting for the next client to pop along to pay to do his job for him.
Its a free country, spend your time as you see fit, and you look like you had a good time.
But £850 for a medal cwd off there? I have a bridge in London Im willing to sell, all interested parties please note I require a deposit for viewings.

It is called the reverse negative, I have lots of old diving books with a number of pictures with the equipment round the wrong way...
Just printed with the neg flipped over.
Even in later pictures that slipped the proofing with the classic of Will Garfit swinging through a pigeon with both eyes shut as a pose shot for the basc mag front page...(and it went to print)
Look in you phone David and you will in edit be able to flip picture..
Supply and demand. There are a lot of leisure stalkers and international stalkers that need access to stalking in the U.K. all deer have value.
Especially as the U.K. is the only place in the world with a population of Chinese water deer that can be hunted.
They are a commodity that is being exploited because a value has been identified. I can full well understand your point of view. I have a similar view on pheasant shooting here a single bird is quite often £60 plus VAT and a day will cost £1000.
Of the stalker with the deer rights has an agreement with the landowner who can sustain any financial loss to crops or forestry then we can grumble. There isn’t much alternative other than turn it into a nature reserve where there will be no management at all and populations will really get out of control.
As for prices it’s down to the client what they are prepared to spend. I shot a gold in February that was £400 all in and that included a night in a shepherds hut. A cull animal would have been £225 after the stalk was accounted for. You have to decide what you deem value for money. I’ve now got a lasting memory of my trip and an avid talking point.
A very good point I have been made aware of is all Chinese water deer are born with gold medal tusks. As they mature the tusks are pushed down and the hollow ends calcify.
Look at the attached photo for an example. One had exposed tusks the other didn’t.
