Another Pard DS35 70 LRF review

.......I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to re-fit the DS35's lens cover so it opens to the left (port) instead of to the right (starboard). I'm left-handed, so have to focus right-handed using the ring itself rather than the lever, and having the lens cover on the right makes things more awkward. Any ideas?

I'd be careful if wanting to adjust the lens cap orientation, have you seen this forum thread below? Looks like it might be fragile and not up to removal.

Another new Pard…..

Measure from the bottom of the ring to the top of the rail. They are 17mm. Too high imho.

I do wish all manufacturers would do this.

These are 12mm in that measurement.

Thanks for that link to an informative thread. I always tread carefully in the belief bred of experience that applying force is a reliable recipe for instant regret! Looks like I'd better just learn to live with the right-handedness of the front end.

It's hard to get 1-piece extended mounts that don't raise the sightline. Most are 38mm from rail-top to ring-centre (23mm lift), though Sportsmatch manage 21mm. I'm awaiting delivery of a Primary Arms mount, which should have a 23mm lift , but expect to have to raise the cheekpiece a bit with it. I'd happily have fitted the Pard rings but needed more eye relief, and thus more rail, than is available with regular upright rings. (The Pard's impressive performance is somewhat offset for me by ergonomic niggles. Aside from handedness and mounting matters, I find I have to screw the diopter adjustment out so far to get the screen focussed that the neoprene cover no longer fits, so I've had to replace it with a Vortex one!)

Nice idea but surely the design of the LAMP and LRF means it's just going to snag on everything and get ripped off at some point...especially if we treat the rifles like tools not toys?

I mean the mount is pretty solid. I’m not the softest with my rifle and all other NV needs an additional IR that would also get knocked if treated roughly.

It will stand up to normal use but anything will get broken with abuse. Treat it with respect at the end of the day.

Honestly the performance of this scope and on board IR and LRF is well worth the odd ball looks.

I’ve held up with an old photon because all the new found tech hasn’t been outstanding. The DS35 has made it into my safe. I’m not a YouTube reviewer or paid journalist. Just a simple fox shooter and stalker.

If you treat it badly then that's a possibility - and your clumsiness will cost you.
Learn to have more respect for your kit - it's less likely to let you down at the critical moment

Cheers

Can you adjust the position of the laser splash. I'm aware you can move the range box. My splash is too far to the right and down. Had this a day could do with some reticles but so far quite impressed.

What distance did you test this at?

My laser splash is almost level with the centre of the reticule and slightly to the right at distances from 100M to 250M, which suits me fine. Would be nice if it is adjustable though.

From 50 to 300 yards it's even more to the right on 11x mag. This was not on the rifle it was in my hand.

In that case I sincerely hope you can prove Bruce wrong and get this sorted, without resorting to a replacement unit! If I can get some mobile phone video footage of my laser splash this weekend I'll upload a link to it. Cant promise anything yet as my phone often struggles to focus on a NV screen.
