53grn hornady super performance misfires

My tikka shoots everything I've put in it perfectly albeit I've only shot hornady , hunting 55grn varmint express plinking 55grn frontiers no misfires but the 53grn super performance the last box I had there were 8 misfires out of 20, this has happened with 2 boxes for different shops at maybe a 6 moth time difference of buying so not from the same batch, any ideas

I’d write to Hornady, they were very good when one of their hmr blew my t bolt to pieces and ended up replacing the rifle

I would be tempted to get the rifle headspace checked but it could be RFD Hornady primers are harder. I presume you’ve stripped and cleaned the bolt and there’s a good indent on the primer.

If it helps I use the same 53g in a tikka,never had a problem with them

O not stripped the bolt yet, never done that before

hornady superformance are loaded a bit stouter than other rounds and hornady know this and have possible fitted a military<harder/thicker primer> to prevent primer piercing, clean your bolt .that very easy you-tube is your friend for this.

I shoot frontiers 55grn with no issues i believe they have the same mil grade primers, but yeah ill strip the bolt and clean it, would brake cleaner do the job

Basically clean all the crud, gunk and grease. Lightly grease and then reassemble.

Boretech eliminator to get rid of gunk etc what do you recommend to grease
