Yep very accurate when they work n doubtThe Superformance are just so accurate in my rifle I find it hard to want to switch. 100 yards, 4 shots 0.15 moa
Foxy doesn't careBut I'll take reliability all day over accuracy all day when talking about 1/2" 1" group's
As you say, this seems to be a known issue with Hornady Superformance 53g/Tikka guns. I've recently bought a new Tikka Super Varmint in .223 and so far I've had two misfires with this ammo (at the time of the last misfire the gun had 73 rounds through it). My mate bought my old Tikka Varmint and he's also had a couple of misfires using this ammo. I used to shoot 55g Federal before and never had a problem. This is a known thing reading the web. It seems they sometimes use milspec / harder primers.
I have had a few missfires. Brand new rifle.
First box ok, second box i had 3.
I then shot off a box and a half in one go out of paranoia without any problem.
2 boxes later i had a missfire, followed by the next 4 shots being ok. The ammo was bought Sept 23.
I’m not sure this is a gun or dirty bolt issue.
The only thing i’m seeing is reports seem to be from Tikka owners, which i also am. Coincidence due to Tikka popularity??
Is it only happening in Tikka rifles though or is it just due to their popularity? As you say, this seems to be a known issue with Hornady Superformance 53g/Tikka guns. I'm not sure if it's totally confined to Tikka. I mentioned these misfires to my local RFD recently and he said both he and one of the other chaps that work there had also experienced the odd misfire with this ammunition. I don't know what rifles they shoot but I know he favours Bergara. Is it only happening in Tikka rifles though or is it just due to their popularity?
