And the hunts wonder why no one likes them....

Had a ping off the trail cam today which is set well away from any footpath and good few acres away in fact. Got this picture of some hounds so sent it to the landowner to see if he knew of anyone in the area walking round that way. More for safety so I know in the future.
His reply, no no one should be there, all the farms in the area are having trouble with a hunt / bloodhound club at the moment and the locals are getting hassle on the roads. Screenshot_20230206_194644_WhatsApp.webp

He is trying to find out the exact club so he can put a stop to it

More than one in the same area?…
More than one farm or more than one group?
Multiple farms have been subject to it today with horse, hounds and quads going where they aren't supposed to. Locals driving the roads have been subject to it as well. Apparently there are more than one hunt and hound club in the area so they need to pinpoint who it was

More than one hunt in an area is what I meant. Seems very unusual to have overlapping ground

Not at all. We have at least three hunts overlapping us, and two of those are merged packs, so was originally five.
Not all the same type of pack though surely? Not uncommon for beagles, foxhounds or harriers as Jon P says. The photo looks like harriers to me?

In the New Forest they have Bloodhounds now and "Quarry" Runners (people who run and lay the trail for the bloodhounds and riders to follow). Apparently, it is an electrifying, primordial and terrifying feeling to hear the hounds baying and getting closer followed by the riders.

I find it hard to believe that hunts would willingly trespass.

Ha!

Then you are extremely naive!

They are the most arrogant collection of arseholes I have ever had to deal with. They think they have a right to be anywhere at any time.

It's not the first time they have had hunts trespass on one if their other farms in a different part of Essex. The hunt asked if they could run on the farm, they were told no due to previous issues. They did it anyway. Its a shame as it makes it hard to justify them/tolerate them when this is the attitude shown towards the landowners

If you want to stop a hunt, you shoot, every last fox, you see mercilessly!

If everyone did the same the problem would be greatly reduced
Funnily enough I was just talking with someone about this on the morning dog walk. I hope it doesn't come to that as to date I've not had to shoot any foxes as they have been no problem and aren't an issue on the farms. To have to shoot them because of people's own actions seems unfair. So hopefully the farmer will be able to speak to the club and get thos sorted out

Hunts don’t like dead foxes, I know a bloke who shot a brace of foxes and hung it on the doorstep of one of the blokes who is high up in a hunt. With a little note on it politely telling him in the Queen’s best English to Keep his horses and dogs away from places where they don’t have permission.

But back in those days, it was a little more. Shall we say not quite so prim and proper as it is today

Definitely not so prim and proper. But what a stupid and senseless thing to do, obviously by an arrant coward who wouldn't go face to face or toe to toe as the case may be. Could have really upset any children in the house to see that.
Would deserve a b....y good hiding.🧐

Like I said, back on those days things were different, the Hunt knew he who he was, and he knew who they were. They were bitching and scrapping in going ahead at each other for donkeys years. I don’t think anybody ever won, the hunt kept on going and he kept on shooting the foxes, so that was then now is a different time.
