I've never watched Clarksons Farm on TV but after reading all of these comments I will look it up on Youtube and reserve my "opinion" till then - It certainly can't be any worse than watching Country Bile!
Keep repeating out loud the name of the new TV show I suggested....He's a right fekin member alrigh
don't know if anyone seen but it was a tv awards the other night and Clarkson cleared the place with award after award...just hope now he continues to educate the public. This isn't a spoiler alert, but if you've not seen the entire series, you will be absolutely gobsmacked at how much actual net net profit he made in year 1...
I agree 100% left wing townie propagandaCountry File is made by cheese munchers for cheese munchers. Total Disney!
Exactly what my brother says. He lives in Dean. Been farming since he left school and managing a 2500 acre farm there for 30 years. As you can imagine, he's got plenty to say about Clarkson's efforts.. He knows Kaleb well as he went to the same school as my nephew. It is entertainment and has also created greater awareness, both of which are good.
However, as the voice of farming and the countryside and local community, think we could do better.
I’m in the next village along from his place and generally not too well thought of. His take on expanding into commercial opportunities is what some farms have had to do around here….but he has a huge marketing vehicle (pun intended) with his show. It brought droves of visitors to a site ill equipped to deal with the numbers who drove in (and again) bought overpriced and not locally sourced meat products, and buggered off without visiting other nearby locations….so the argument for bringing in tourism money to the local community fell flat.
I’m sure with the new series will no doubt happen again. Luckily his idea for a restaurant has been booted by Chad PC and West Oxon DC.
No objections to him making a living, but when it’s at the expense of the quality of life of the wider community…..
Oh and no skin in the game, I live local, but don’t own or work in a business effected by this, just an observation from a localish resident.
Do like Gerald though, often see him when I’m out on my bike and he’s mending walls on different farms in the vicinity……he turns up his accent for the camera…..
