Virtus Precision bullets

Since the topic seems to have veered wildly off course from the OP, I thought I might try to bring it back on track by answering the original question.
The Eagle is designed to expand and give optimum terminal performance at lower velocities; all the way down to 750fps. Whilst the BC isn't great, it's terminal performance arguably lends itself to longer range shooting due to its ability to reliably expand at lower impact velocities. They are outstanding I'm my 300BLK.
The Merlin is designed to expand down to 1500fps and gives similar terminal performance to most lead 'cup & core' bullets. They can be quite violent at high impact velocity but are very effective and extremely accurate.
The Osprey is designed to deliver very controlled expansion, requiring far higher impact velocity to initiate expansion; over 2000fps, which in some respects, makes it quite similar to products from the likes of Barnes. Very good for use when carcass damage is a concern.

My two penn'orth on Virtus: I worked up a load using the 140gr Osprey in a .308 using N135, trucking along around 2,875fps. Really easy to get them to shoot and very impressed with the accuracy. As noted above by @Too Deer, these are supposed to hold together better than the Merlin and were recommended to me by @Virtus Precision UK for minimising damage on sub-200 yard small deer.
In terms of actual results, at present I can only offer one example - a chest shot on a quartering muntjac at near enough bang on 100 yards. It dropped pretty much where it was standing and I would put the damage on a par with 150gr Game Kings. Perfectly acceptable for my purposes.
Unfortunately this year has been rather unkind for a number of reasons, which has limited my opportunities to test them further! With any luck the coming months will offer a chance to gather more data...

Adding to my own insane ramblings, I forgot to mention that I also chest shot a broadside ~80yard roe doe towards the end of last year with very similar results...
What’s your yew tree load?.270 fox classic . 6.5 yewtree very happy with both very accurate down range with good performance . made a choice and ill stick to it even at the cist

Well as above 77.2mm OAL but from a visual point of view nearly the whole of the last cut ring on the bullet is visible above the case neck nearly but not quite. The jump is about 120tho on my rifle 3mm? X55 Saami length is 80mm from memory?
Hi I use the 110gr Merlin in my 6.5x55 they were pretty easy to make up a consistent and accurate load. As hobby stalker the meat damage isn't a mass problem to me but they do exapand well. I'm yet to put them over a chrono but when i do I'll let you know. Also the after sales is very good. I hope this is useful. Have a good day
