Hi I’m after everyone’s advice what .300 win mag to get. After something for long range target shooting. I’ve got a Ai axmc in 6.5 creedmoor already so after something a bit different but still tactical looking & heavy ish.

Thanks for your help.
Phil

Not tactical but the Mauser M12 Extreme 300 win Mag is extremely accurate, I not a target shooter i can get tight groups at 400 yds with it with factory Ammo. Never tried any further then that due to space.

Recoil is negligible too. And not an expensive rifle to purchase.

Can you not change calibre to 300 WM on your existing AI?
Going by the calibre I reckon he has an AX, not an AXMC. The AX is short action, so .300 Win Mag isn’t an option.

If I were in the same boat, I’d probably try to sell the AX 6.5 to then pick up an AXMC with .300 Win Mag and 6.5 barrels. I haven’t seen or handled anything I’d trade my AXMC in for. Plus, by going with the barrel change option you’re not having to buy a second set of optics.

Other options; Barrett MRAD, Sako TRG M10. Desert Tech perhaps?

If the the OP does in fact have an AXMC and not an AX308. Getting a spare bolt body and new barrel are definitely the way to go.

New bolt £800
New barrel £825

Thanks for the replies guys, I do have an axmc and i have a 6.5 creedmoor barrel and a .308. I only really use the creedmoor barrel at the mo And the .308 just sits at the back of the cabinet now. I would like to get a complete new gun as half the fun is stripping them down and cleaning bits. I love my AI but would like to add something new to my collection. Cheers

20221120_113425.webpif your looking for somthing slightly different unique alpine are a really nice rifle. Mines a tpg 1 in 300wm the newer variant is more in line with the accuracy international and is renamed the FN Balista

However a barrel and bolt for your ACMX would also be a good shout!

Well if you have money to burn why not. Although it is a waste to have a long action AXMC and just run short action calibres in my humble opinion. I have a AX308 with a couple of barrels in 6.5X47 as I new I wouldn’t be going long action. Although I am now thinking about a 7mm PRC 🤦‍♂️

It’s just hard when you have about the best system already and anything else will be almost as good. What about a new Accuracy International Mk11

Alternatives although already listed;

Unique Alpine
Dessert Tech
Barrett
Sako M10

I have an SSG08 in .300WM, AMAZING accuracy out past 1000M

I have an AI too and the SSG has to me a better trigger, way smoother action and is easier to shoot.

Not bashing my AI at all but the SSG is just a smoother shooter.

Kind regards,
Bob.

If you’re looking for something different, how about stepping up to the .300 Win Mag on the AI and getting something different in 6.5 or .308? It’ll open your options up a bit more.

Q Fix (not heavy though!)? LMT straight pull? Bradley BAR 10? Old school AI AW?

I have an AXMC in 300WM. Easily touches targets out to 1300 yards. I use a similar load to an RFD I know who shoots out to a mile.
