How did I know that would be your response 😂😂, you’ve been hanging around with Tim too much with combative responses like that.

I pay my tax (quite a lot of tax) but still see the benefit of helping out the NHS where I can, like getting over the counter medicines instead of prescription equivalents where possible and freeing up appointments for other people where possible.

I pay a fair bit as well, I've been to the doctors once and the hospital once in my life, I'm soon to be 29, I'd say I'm not burdening the system, however for something as worrying as Lyme disease I would much rather trust the NHS than a postal service

Nobody said you were burdening the NHS.

I guess you missed the post above that said both tests performed by the NHS can miss the disease? Also antibiotics can play havoc with your gut health, if they can be avoided as a precaution it seems sensible to me.

Checking the tick for bacterial DNA seems like a good idea.
 
I had some travel injections a few months ago and chatting to the man administering them, he told me that there is a French Vaccine that was never properly approved for Lymes but he said he would be very surprised if he isn’t administering Lymes vaccines in the next couple of years

Not saying it wasn't a good idea, in fact I think it's a very good idea but post round here is not good enough for me to risk something like this not getting there, however you said by going to the doctors your burdening the NHS quoting a post about me going to the doctors, if that wasn't your intent then sorry for getting the wrong end of the stick

That’s why I posted, so others would know about it. It goes by next day delivery from memory, so drop it to the post office.
 
Not all GPs are slow or useless.
I went to see mine about a red patch on my calf - no bullseye, no itch/soreness, no other illness - my wife saw it first, in fact. It hadn't cleared up in over a week, so I called the surgery. Receptionist spoke to the dr after I said it could possibly be Lyme, as I often get tick bites. They asked me to come in that afternoon as an emergency appointment.
Although not typical (is there such a thing?) symptoms, she put me on the Doxycycline and took a blood sample there and then. I was to start a full course, 200mg day, but if the sample came back negative, stop after 1 week.
Just heard it was positive (by text), so told to continue to take the full course.
I think that was good service.
BTW I had, and still have, no symptoms or tiredness, headaches, joint pain, etc etc.
 
Please take care everyone. Only last week a friend showed the typical signs of an infection from a tick bite. I never thought this was a danger so early in the season...

I was lucky enough to bang myself a tidy Roe Buck on Saturday. he was a big boy and very fit and healthy, however he was full off ticks. in all the years I have been involved in stalking
this was probably the worse I have ever seen it. he was absolutely covered as was I which I found out to my detriment on my return to home. stripped off in the garage and clothes on a hot boil
straight away. woke up the next day with one buried in my shin and was itching like hell.
hopefully the next one won't be too bad.
keeps your eyes peeled they get everywhere

Is there anything out there like a spray you can spray on your skin or clothes to deter them from attaching , my wife is getting fed up pulling them of me , 26 yesterday , some just very small grass ticks but 3 were larger . It’s the itch that gets me . Cheers

NO tick ever survived an encounter with Permethrin. Whilst the survival rate among humans after eating organic carrots is pretty much the same, happily the latter are much slower acting in our case as compared to Permethrin on ticks.
