Tempted to buy one as a shooting shed/man cave on wheels.
Anyone any experience good or bad or general advice to offer please?
thanks.

Depends on the age.
I have had a 2019 model since new and the only issue has been that the rear discs wire out recently. Other than this, rock solid.
Easily get 55-60 mpg on long runs, and she is very comfortable.
Do get the heated seats if you can, otherwise Amazon sell some good electric seat covers - lovely on a cold morning.

We use on on our shoot - pretty good to be honest - goes nearly anywhere on just normal road tyres - just lacks a bit of ground clearance especially if filled with men or corn

I’ve got the older model T31, just had it serviced and new MOT.

I am wanting to sell it as Bristol has this clean air zone and I can’t use it for work or general stuff / seeing friends, going to the airport or my mates farm.

Had it valued on those apps etc and similar one on Autotrader are about £9,500 - £9,000 ish.

It’s the top spec Tekna one.

PM if interested.

I have , or the mrs has a 19 plate one, the best we have had is 42 mpg but on average high 30s , don't think I would have another.

They are strongly built as my pal will testify, he loaded his .308 H&K semi auto using the inside light to see what he was doing yup bang off goes it and he sent the bullet into his drivers seat severing the wire to the seat belt tensioner but there is no hole in the bodywork underneath the seat, the seat absorbed all the forces. ND happened two days ago and he has still not settled down and him being a 40 years of experience hunter. He calls the H&K a plastic s::t rifle.

I Have a older t30 2.2 dci which I use daily as have other 4x4s and I wouldn't not part with it it's great to drive great in snow ice and wet grass great soft offloaded space ro hold 3 redstags at its ease. I would most certainly get another

I agree with the above. I have a t30 2.2 dci & I use it daily, it's comfortable for what it & drives like a car. I go everywhere in it, from gravel paths, muddy fields & living in the valleys of Wales snow & ice, it hasn't let me down yet & the room in the boot is brilliant & with the seats down it's like a van. I'll definitely get another one.

I had a T30 for a few years until it failed with rust. It was brilliant. Huge load capacity with the seats folded down. Off Road capabilities were beyond a soft roader.

There was one for sale on here a few months ago. Had I not got a Volvo xc90 now days I would have bought it.

All due respect to your friend you can call a HK G3 ( i know G3 is the full auto designation ) a lot of things but not a plastic **** rifle . If he is referring to one of the **** clones of the G3 that are essentially cobbled together from parts kits then maybe you can say they are **** .

On the car front x-trail or pathfinder are great cars and cheap to run with good availability of parts . Pathfinder being a bit more posh .

If you want to go full shed on wheels a short wheel base nissan patrol would be epic !

:)

Can't comment on the X trail, but I have a '17 plate J11 qashqai which are built off the same platform as the t32 xtrails. The 1.6 diesel 4wd is the same engine across both I believe. Its got some go in the "slightly" smaller car, think there's 10cm in it for the length.

My only complaint for them, as I also had a j10 model from 2013 which got swapped for the newer car because of the Scottish clean air lark, is the 4wd control on the newer car is round about your right knee (and this appears the same in the x trail too). The number of times I've accidentally knocked that button without realising when getting out of the car, to get back in to drive away (next day or to go home) and get couple miles down the road to notice I've been doing it all in 4wd 🤣 Tanks the otherwise excellent fuel economy. Did the run up from Edinburgh to Inverness on Saturday in the ****ing rain and got myself a nice 56.5mpg.

Very smooth drive and easy handling. I imagine the xtrail handles much the same, although don't know if it would be worth getting one of the larger engine models (2.0 sounds like it would proper be a beast).

Been running a 2004 2.5 petrol T30 for near on the last 16 years and love it to bits, it’s served me very well over the years, never been stuck in mud or snow and I have challenged it off road on numerous and countless occasions, self maintained at very little cost, from 37k miles to around 113k miles at present and never failed a test, typical service items replaced over the years such as tyres and brakes, disc etc., 3 x middle exhausts ( latest one this last month prior to next weeks mot), two front springs and a starter motor , will run this till the wheels fall off and goodness knows what it will get replaced with. Saw a rust free import on autotrader a short while ago which could be an option for you

Also, get one with the large sun roof, I run mine all the way back and either drop the back seats down and sit on a stool with bipod off the roof or stand in the back with seats as they are (tired old legs opt for the sitting position more oft)

Had a couple, T30 2.2D had issues with Turbo and Intercooler.
T31 2.0d, few issues other than the bloody DPF that needed me to have a bottle of Wynns DPF cleaner in the glove box and when the light came on put it into the fuel tank and rev the nuts out of it for 20mins.
If you don't do that a DPF clean and reset is required, Halfrauds charge about £90 to do it.
Very capable for a soft roader, been where Freelanders wouldn't dare on road tyres.
T31 with the underfloor storage in the boot is very capacious.

Well trusty old faithful just flew through its MOT again today, granted I only do around 2,500 mls a year running around the various shoots and permissions but it does get more and more off road use than ever and especially through mud on the farms, mechanic mentioned rear pads getting ready but not enough to put on advisory so will get them looked at (but not till the sun comes out properly) all of about an hours job to swap out.
as mentioned before, I will run this till the wheels fall off

One thing I recall was always an issue with my 2006 x-trail was the handbrake was a pain to get through the MOT every year. Even having all the cables replaced the hub brakes were never very powerful.

On that note! My qashqai (and I presume the xtrail of the same series) has an electronic hand brake! Not sure about the new ones (2021-) though
