I’ve only heard of the one in Sandhurst!?I have heard several accounts of boar in the Sandhurst area, but nothing to hang your hat on.
I live the other side of the river, and you're right one of the local farmer shot one down in his meadows (seen the picture and know him wellMe too, live in Sandhurst and shoot 4 nights a week, never seen one, but have heard of a local farmer shooting one a few years ago. Don’t want them here.
Be careful what you wish for they are a nightmare when your landowners are phoning up complaining about damage. It is surprising how quick they will give others permissions to shoot on the land when getting serious damage. They’ll slowly make way towards us eventually
oh don't worry about that, I already manage blocks of permissions in the forest of dean and shoot boar on a regular basis so I unfortunately know the tricksBe careful what you wish for they are a nightmare when your landowners are phoning up complaining about damage. 9 miles at widest, 2 miles at narrowest, the strong current / tides are the biggest factors. It has one of the largest high / low tides in the world. How wide is the Severn? It actually matters not a great deal as they are excellent swimmers and for very long distances too.
That`s a fair Estuarine river then. From what I know they would do it if it meant escape or better feed. They swim the big salt water rivers in Northern Australia easily enough except when Mr Croc is about.9 miles at widest, 2 miles at narrowest, the strong current / tides are the biggest factors. However in the case we were talking above with @2Ll’s that pig would have had to only swim max 50m of water.I live the other side of the river, and you're right one of the local farmer shot one down in his meadows (seen the picture and know him well)

Not sure where it is 9 miles wide or 2 miles to be honest9 miles at widest, 2 miles at narrowest, the strong current / tides are the biggest factors. It has one of the largest high / low tides in the world.
it certainly would have been only 50 meter’s unfortunately not far enoughHowever in the case we were talking above with @2Ll’s that pig would have had to only swim max 50m of water.
The 9/2 miles ratio is based on the estuary not the actual width of the river in land I suspect. Not sure where it is 9 miles wide or 2 miles to be honest
it certainly would have been only 50 meter’s unfortunately not far enough
Where was this Gloucester? It does happen, but I wouldn’t hold your breath!!
