The ppu spec on z-groms is 2,700 and the gun mart review on factory ammo supported this. I will have to try the jump.Need to go fast (2900-3000fps) and have a big jump (50-120thou) say about 1gr over vhit max is about right
Just get some yew tree bullets problem solved? It will be cheaper I’m the long run. I’ve yet to find a gun that doesn’t shoot them wellThe ppu spec on z-groms is 2,700 and the gun mart review on factory ammo supported this. I will have to try the jump.
After 15 years reloading 308 I have never had so many problems!

This ^^^Welcome to progress and the new world.
Crank it up until the primers start falling out.
Should find something that works before that happens though.
Good point, and yes, copper prefers a long jump. Chasing seating depth with copper is a waste of time.I’ve been trying to get my 6.5-284 to shoot Barnes lrx by, driving me nuts! Not a decent 3 shot group!
So, tried a powder weight quite a few grains lower than max and pushed the bullet down into the case so I could just see the top ring on the bullet, .5 mm shorter than Barnes recommendation, hey presto just over half inch group, it seems copper likes a long jump!
N140 is ok if you use a drop tube to pack it downWith Barnes TTSX 130gr I use a COL of 2.8”, which is absolutely miles away from the lands.
I tried RS50, which is similar to N140 and found it hard to get enough powder in to get the velocity high enough.
I switched to N135 and am getting 2,950 with a case fill of about 100%.
I would try shorter COL and if you can get some, a faster powder. N135 works well.
I think I have found oneJust get some yew tree bullets problem solved? It will be cheaper I’m the long run. I’ve yet to find a gun that doesn’t shoot them well
Jump? Charge?I think I have found one. Can’t get sub inch in my .308 which is a shame as they are great in everything else
Personally I start at 50 thou off lands and I needed up 120 thou off short is goodIt’s been said before but I will repeat the process that has worked in all my rifles switching to copper from lead.
1. Give your rifle a complete and thorough clean. Treat the barrel with an anti fowling compound and make sure it is spotless
2. Choose your bullet and speed you want it to run at.
3. Find a powder which gives you this speed with a good burn percentage. (QL helps with this)
4. Measure your max COAL to lands
5. Load to 30thou off lands and shoot three.
6. If step five not good group then load 20thou further in and shoot three
7. Continue step 6 until you get reasonable group. 50-90thou normally it will come together.
This has never failed. If NDS were here he would say the same and it’s thanks to him for this method.

Interesting most of mine are 50-70thou off. That’s Barnes TTSX, Yewtree, Virtus and fox in 6.5x55 and 7x57.Personally I start at 50 thou off lands and I needed up 120 thou off short is good
Played extensively with both.Jump? Charge?
Fair enough it does become an expensive bore!Played extensively with both.
No point I trying more as the nosler e-tip shoot 3/4.
