A pita especially if you are mixed race and can plunder both sides of the big devide(well if snp) get their way. Scotland's deer acts do seem to be more logical and they are will to amend things as times change.

Google is a fantastic tool. Here is Deer Act England 1991

And here is Deer Act (Scotland) 1996

Section 4 of Animal Welfare Act also comes into effect on Suffering of Animals

Any body who hunts should have a working knowledge of the Law in the Jurisdiction in which they hunt.

A good summary for Scotland is here Statutory guides - Best Practice Guidance

And England

The major differences are how the executive has powers to manage and control deer and prescribe actions for the management.

I'd be VERY interested to hear the 'logical' reason why Scottish Roe can be taken with .223 and yet English Roe is a minimum of .240 calibre. Utter madness!
We are better shots in Scotland. Or the English roe are harder. Daft especially when roe in the Borders could be in one country ne minute and in another the next

No logical reason why they should be different.
There is also no logical reason why they should be the same.
Two different countries with their.own laws
( on many things though not all)
Yup two different legislations made by different legislators. It’s why we can loose our driving licence with 50mg of alcohol in our blood, whereas south its 80mg. Its why North you are tried by a sheriff with 15 Jurors with three verdicts whereas down south its a judge with 12 jurors and two verdicts.

Scots law works on the Roman Law system where you look at the law and what is implied by the law and within a contract or agreement.

Whereas in England its very much down to the exact letter of the law and exact letter of any contract or agreement supported by case law to give interpretation.

As to min calibre, etc in England this prescribed in the Deer Act and thus needs an act of parliament. In Scotland, te Deer Act (Scotland) devolves this power to the secretary of state or executive to impose conditions they see fit.

The Deer (Scotland) Act 1996 is long overdue an update and review of the powers within.

A general evidence warrant will normally be able to be executed a month or within a reasonable amount of time from when it is granted.

A search warrant granted under the powers of the Deer (Scotland) Act 1996 is valid for 1 week from when it is granted.

Sentencing tariffs also lag behind other wildlife crime legislative powers.

I suspect if you delved into Europe, France/Germany/Belgium etc etc will all have difference in their laws amd the same cross border issues would arise?

Different seasons - fine no biggie, just look them up depending on the day.

The one I really don’t get is .22 CF for roe. I’d love to use my .222 as a light weight summer gun as it’s perfect for roe and munty, but unfortunately I can’t 🤷🏻‍♂️

A bit disappointed with this.
Hopefully most people who stalk on both sides of the border have already taken the time to research and understand the law regarding shooting deer in England and Scotland, so asking on SD if anyone knows what the differences is just lazy, and a bit insulting.
Go away and do your own research.....
