I’m honest because I’ve killed, I’ve killed more deer what most people can dream of over the last 25 years!

Now I shoot the please myself, not others.

But also travelling into Germany, getting my dog from German and going through all the hoops and hurdles that I have I’ve also seen as a tracker all the disasters that go with killing as well that’s a bit that doesn’t sit well with me so nowadays I just please myself then I’ve only got to worry about myself and what I do

But unfortunately, everything I say is a curse because I tell the truth and as I see it, it won’t be the same as everybody else’s views but unfortunately black is black. White is white with me there is no Gray like I said it’s a curse.

Oh, I'm being totally honest with myself and with you when I say that I personally don't enjoy killing deer. Deer are fascinating and beautiful animals, and I'd far rather see them out and about in the countryside than hanging in the chiller.

Now I absolutely do enjoy being outside, and I enjoy watching deer, and I enjoy pitting myself against them. I enjoy it that much that I do it in some form or another most days of the week. But as to killing them? It really is a case of meh......I can take it or leave it. As said above, if I never had to kill another deer it wouldn't bother me one jot - so long as the deer are there I can always go out and shoot them with a camera.

We have a cull plan of typically 100 deer a year. Maybe that's what makes a difference, as a cull plan means pressure to kill deer, which tends to detract from any enjoyment. Your purpose is to go out to kill deer, and if that happens within 2 minutes of getting out of the truck, all the better, as you can get the carcass back into the chiller and move on to something else. Not much thrill of the chase there!

That's also why I personally find I get more enjoyment from guiding someone else onto a deer so that they can kill it, or witnessing a DSC2 Candidate killing a deer.

The end result is just the same - a dead deer, another one off the cull - and someone got to enjoy it.

So why kill them ? Just leave them to exist and enjoy their lives in the countryside.

Be honest are they really causing any harm ?

The muntjac certainly are, particularly in terms of their impact on bluebells, orchids, and other indicator species in ancient woodland, of which we're fortunate to have a fair amount.

We've also had several cases of bTB in muntjac, so controlling them as much as possible is high up on the priority list.

If you had them you would see what they do when trying to get the likes of hornbeam re established in a wood after it is has been cut and processed.

Nice afternoon so will be out somewhere looking for muntjac later on as we have lots of them. :tiphat:
