SQUIRREL FEEDER

I was looking at the brinksworth ones on eBay probably order one this week.
I made some out of plywood with plasterers metals edging to try to protect it. Wasn’t as successful as I’d envisioned so metal ones seem to be the way forward.

I’ve seen 4 & 6” plastic pipe used cut with and angle for the base. They look like they are good and cheap to make too

I've used those pipe feeders for deer and they were good but for some reason squirells are just arseholes and chew through the plastic! I'm sure they just like doing it to be awkward rather than sit on the opening and feed easily. I had the same with the blue barrel pheasant feeders and a spring in the bottom. Clearly they couldn't get the feed out quick enough so somehow managed to chew a hole through the side of the barrel!

The only success so far was using an old galvanised dustbin with the spiral feeder in the bottom and strapping the lid down. Good for deer but a bit big and excessive for squirells!

They are big but you are also helping the woodland birds too
Win win - cant beat waiting for the varmints whilst getting to watch the little birds too

The squirrels will usually chew the blue ones if the spring or slot has no food that they can get too - so you must keep them topped up

I haven’t bought 25 kilos for a while but last time I think I paid just over £30 but can’t remember where from? £42:99 is probably a fairly good price considering how things have gone up recently.

I use a 110mm drainage pipe, about 2 ft long . Cut a 110mm disk out of ply and halfed it.. fixed the half's into end of pipe with a couple screws.. this just holds the feed in.
It's designed to be mounted on a running branch and once busy you then add 2 snares to either side of pipe on the branch.
Mines is just mounted on a bit of 2x2 and screwed onto rear fence and is proving popular! Not found the need to try the snares yet.

That’s a decent price, I was thinking to buy this off a lad who runs a shoot but he‘s a fair way off and I pick this up on route to the Wood.

I have to bag it & collect it, but its only next door. I go bale carting for them & control their vermin so bit of a you scratch my back scenario.

ive made a 5 squirrle feeders, the fat from 35 squirrels melted down and mixed with no mess burd food, plus some other seeds and hung in yogurt pots, turns out birds eat squirrels
