Vacancy: Firearms Licensing Intelligence Researcher - Gloucestershire Constsbulary

according to the bbc today the typical average u.k. worker is on £33,000 a year so at £25,000 they will only get a monkey with very little intelligence, so panic not.

Bosses at Britain's biggest companies saw their pay rise by almost 16% on average last year as most workers' wages were squeezed by rising prices.
The High Pay Centre said the median pay of a FTSE 100 chief executive was £3.91m in 2022, up from £3.38m in 2021.
It added that the average earnings of a FTSE 100 boss was 118 times more than a typical UK worker on £33,000 a year.

That’s what office staff are on. Sad really when you look at what other industries are paying.

Also indicative of why people slip through the net and tragedies occur

“Lessons learned” every time but rarely applied or actually learned , ,,,,

Low paid staff, no interest in the work

Would be better to have a stand alone national firearms service dedicated to the processing and management of all civilian licences - all areas working to a common standard and sop

Made my "Descision maker " Laugh, Recent chat turned to this problem, I suggested they turn the vacancies out to stalkers & other sensible qualified firearm users.
:norty:

I applied twice to one particular Constabulary, for the role of Admin support in the Firearms Department. My application did not progress because I did not have sufficient experience with firearms, or the law around them so I was told (I declared both SGC & FAC). The job profile indicated full training would be given. I had the support of two FEO's, who encouraged my application. Both times the same person in HR quashed my application, despite my being qualified for the post in many key aspects.

The new hire, was a young Lady who used to work in retail and had no underpinning knowledge.

It is easier to mould someone it there way of thinking if no prior experience,

Friend of mine tried to get into the mounted police section, but was turned down, she was later told it was because she was already a competent rider so would be harder to teach the police riding style.

I suppose it depends on the applicants individual motivation and needs?

To be honest I do an (at times) interesting job related to shooting for around about the same money.

If the advertised job were in my geographic area and I were looking for a new job it would probably interest me.

Guess that makes me a monkey with very little intelligence (lots of people may agree 😂)

What the Hendon Shuffle? On a horse no less? I didn't know that! But if so then clearly then she didn't have legs long enough for the task! Which doing the Hendon Shuffle on a horse they'd need to be very bloody long!

Probably don't want "pro gun" people in the role when intent seems to now be to quash legal ownership

Interesting, just had a Google and this cropped up.

Recieved an email from a local gun club who have stated they have been in contact with the local firearms department (Merseyside) and they have stated it is unlikely I will be granted an FAC/SGC. Interesting that they can make such an assumption without knowing any narrative and not actually being a decision maker other than to provide intelligence on an applicant

Spoke to BASC, and they’ve provided some good advise!
