just checking to see what you good folk think, are they about normal, rifle is a 223 tikka super varmint,
shooting blitzkings, gamekings, sako gameheads and hornady varmint express V max,,
first 4 pics are 100 yard, not zeroed in for any particular round, pretty pleased with them,
second lot are at 200 yard aiming for the orange inch circle, then the ones closer to the circle are the second st of 5, took a rough calculation of them all and went up 1 1/2 MOA up and 1/2 MOA left, didnt seem to be any wind, IMG_7371.webpIMG_7372.webpIMG_7373.webpIMG_7374.webp

The Tikka MOA guarantee for the super varmint is 5-shot 1MOA groups at 100y. What's your group size at 100? They all look to be 1MOA or less.

Your 200 groups start to get very random. Did you let the barrel cool between 40 rounds at 100 and shooting at 200?

the 100 yard groups were shot last week, there was only about 1 minute rest between each group of 5 shots on the 200 yard groups, yes the 100 yard groups are all 1 MOA or less,

100 yard groups looking fine then. 200 yards look OK too tbh. Maybe there were small gusts down range you didn't feel.

thanks,
i will try again another day see what that throughs up, but i guess a fox or rabbit at 200 yard wont do to much complaining
but i do need to pick a round to stick to, so far my money is on either the blitzkings or gamekings, over the sako and hornady, which surprises me,

Sierra have been good in my Tac A1. It likes MatchKings. I've still got to try the Hornady 73gr ELDM, but Bisley sell GGG 69gr and it's cheap and accurate.

69 TMK would be good if yours is tight twist. Trouble is theyvare v difficult to get hold of.

I’d go with game kings as the rifle can also be used for deer work if your out and about and come across a munty or Chinese.
How much of the orange dot was being covered with your reticle? My .222 will ragged hole at 100m but with the alpex that’s mounted on it the 200yard group is a bit pants as I can’t ever resllly see the target that well.

funny you should say that as at 200 yard om my hawke sidewinder pro the reticle there is a cross in the centre which is a fair bit thicker that the reticle on my older sidewinder on my HMR, but i dont think i can blame that, im going to put it down to wind:) going to buy a wind meter to try eliminate that

With a thicker cross type reticle, you can also try a target centre shaped like this - 🔷 - it will allow you to align the crosshairs with the points far easier and more repeatable than a circle.

I would say they are perfectly acceptable for factory. You can and do bump the accuracy up with home loads, I'm using 60gn vmax in 1-9 barrel with excellent results but again home loads. I do have some blitz kings but not done any load development with those yet.

I have a Tikka T3x super varmint, it seems to shoot most factory ammo to 1 MOA or better. I have had most success with Federal 53gn V-Max, averaging 0.5 MOA. Best non plastic tipped round RWS 55gn Teilmantel. For the range ADI 69 gn SMK's if you can find any.

MOA is an angular measurement and is irrespective of distance, one MOA at 100 yards is one MOA at any other range too.

Only if there’s no wind, or the wind is completely constant, which it seldom is. The variation introduced by wind may not show up at 100, but could easily cause substantially more than 1moa worth of variation at 200.
