What will this sika score

Had a fabulous day yesterday with a member from here down in Dorset (full write up coming). And took this beautiful sika. What do you think he will score? Will post him off tomorrow for taxidermy and official scoring. Was told he might take number one for this year.

We didn’t see a single red while there. I don’t think there are any on his ground.
Yeah, I totally believe that. Both the Reds and the Sika can travel for many miles though.

The reason I think it looks like a hybrid is besides the extra two points it has that a fully mature Sika usually has, the brow tines are at more of a right angle than an upright angle.

I don't know how the UK (or Irish) scoring system works but would be interested to know if it is classified as a pure Sika.

Will let you know. Just confirmed that there are no reds within a 30 mile radius of where we took him so I doubt hybrid.

100% jap

It will score to the smaller of the two antlers because it's all about evenness in sika so the extra tine won't count.

He’s a fantastic stag, once in a lifetime. Such a shame he’s broken off the top of his right beam otherwise he’d likely score very highly. He’ll still go gold I would have thought. I’ve seen one similar to yours this year with ten points and fully intact which was scored in the UK CIC top ten so I think it may be a struggle for you to have the biggest this year - but you never know until it’s been scored! Great stag and best of luck with the score 👍

That’s an absolutely magnificent stag, but the lack of symmetry will cost you points from your total score.
Regardless of medal category, you have the head, you have the memories and you had the experience.
What more could you ask for?

Here are some more photos of him after being skinned out.
As a rough guide you need about 49cms in both length and width at the widest point for gold.
Your head looks a bit bigger but you will definitely lose points because of the lack of symmetry.
The CIC formula is easy to follow if you can find a copy and a score sheet.
