SGC time frame from interview (Northumbria)

Just wondering what sort of timeframe people are experiencing from interview for first time grant to finding out if you have been successful or not? Currently sitting at 9 weeks and all I know is ‘it's still with a manager’ for review. I don’t want to bother firearms incase it goes against me, I was also told from my FEO to not get BASC to chase up for me ( I renewed my membership and just queried waiting times etc and they kindly chased my application up for me prior to visit. ) I just feel like I’m a rock stuck in a hard place at the moment with it. I’ve also had hundreds of lessons the past 18 month ( I’m not joking when I say hundreds either ) myself annd my 9 year old both shoot, I have a gun stored at my local shooting ground that a purchased there. As far as I’m aware nobody has been in touch with the shooting ground or my permissions that I currently shoot with air guns.

Just wondered if anybody else had experienced anything similar as it’s starting to worry me a little with the timeframe.

Cheers Guys

Helping a friend apply for his SGC cert, I asked my local FEO as an aside on work loads and timelines for new applications and was advised 4 - 6 months for a new application. unfortunately it seems like a issue of when it gets to the top of the pile. Once they do get to it my FEO turns things around in very short order. Try and keep your chin up and remember its not you its just the turning of the wheel of bureaucracy that takes the time, frustrating though it is.

Well, I wouldn't admit to having purchased a licensable firearm without having a licence...

I was told, in no uncertain terms, by other club members not to do something like that. By all means, put a sizeable deposit down, but not all of the price.

Nice of the shop at the ground you shoot at, letting you use the same gun each time. Just make sure they clean it, or teach you how to do it properly, before you hand it back after use. :-)

I only have a deposit on the gun 😀

It’s more the timescale that was worrying me. I’m still plugging away just wondered if anybody else in the area had applied and heard back within this time 😬😬

They were running late due to covid, from what I hear they've more or less caught up, not much of an answer for you, on the lighter side, Northumbria are one of the better licensing teams

Good. Glad the RFD made sure you didn't fall foul of any potential mistakes. 👍
Yeah i am well above board with it all I wouldn’t have done it otherwise. I wanted a certain gun that doesn’t come up very often so couldn’t pass at the chance, just a deposit and I get to use it in my lessons. I’m literally in the hundreds of lessons now so I’m more than ready. Just need the golden letter to arrive so I can bring her home 😀 but was starting to get worried a bit 🙏🏾

I agree they’ve been more than helpful with me on advise for sure. I already have a cabinet etc with my air rifles in as my daughter now shoots the clays with me, so keep everything shooting related under lock and key as per advise. They’ve been good so far was just a bit concerned with the wait from inspection as a few of the lads have had there’s through 🙏🏾🙏🏾
