Baltic outside and perfect for the Axion thermal but Lady FB is crocked as she has had a steroid jab in her knee and “simply must not move for 48 hours“ so I am full on in Nurse Gladys Emmanuel mode but sans the big assets……
Sooo in only 14hrs and 48 minutes me and my Remmy will be out the door like the hammers of blue you know what!

Sadly, if all goes to plan we will complete on the sale of this house with its 2 inglenooks this Friday - I'll really do miss the open fires :(

Vizslas 6 & 7 I strongly suspect have no knowledge or experience of an open fire sadly - I really want a wood burner in this house:coat:

BTW - the fire grate/fire dogs are up for sale if anyone is interested?

Unless you got an unlimited supply of wood and enjoys exercising with the axe, I would suggest a log burner, which can even be installed on the so called smoke free/ controlled areas. A decent size log burns for about an hour and the heat efficiency of some of those are as high as 85%. It takes about half an hour to warm up the room and then a slow burning fire keeps it warm through the day or night. Add one or two of the fireplace thermoelectric fans, you are sorted. You might be able to install one yourself as well or with a friend as the stove would be heavy. Got one installed earlier this year and it warms up the large living area really well. Half tempted to work out a mechanism to get the hot air through the ceiling to the bedrooms upstairs as I keep seeing some vent ideas on youtube with a computer fan to move the air around.
We open 2 internal doors in the same room and this causes cold air to come in one door and push warm air out the other door and up some stairs.

When I have jabs in both knees, Doc says ‘Try not to over do it for a couple of days’, so I just carry on as normal……Limping around!
Xrayed and told Osteo Arthur in left knee and severe Osteo Arthur in right knee In 2018.
Read a thread on SD I think about some crocked stalkers making a concoction from Turmeric, Black Pepper, Green Lipped Mussel and some other crap boiled up together then taken as a daily drink.
Didn‘t fancy that so just got Turmeric and Black Pepper pills and Green Lipped Mussel pills and been taking them daily for last 5 years.
They worked like a miracle for me and still not needed a new knee or 2.
Still have the knee injections every couple of years and they do help.
Left hip knackered too and GP gives me an injection on outside of left thigh in a Burser sac? Or some such thing.
He also gives me injections in my left shoulder occasionally as that’s a bit rough in the joint.
Just yesterday he gave me an injection in my belly, but that’s for Cholesterol.
I would recommend those Turmeric capsules to anyone with Arthur.
Ken.
PS. Gone off topic, sorry.
PPS. Back on topic, this won’t get fed again tonight…

Lovely to hear your well Ken .🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

A log burner, what's not to like?
If you have some shooting permission in the woods, and get on well with your landowners, then most likely you have access to free fuel 👍

Turmeric does do wonders - my sister used to give it to her arthritic old greyhound and i thought if it works for him it'll work for me and it did - bad back pretty much fixed. (Also a dose of glucosamine with it each morning)!

Thanks for all the advice chaps - i'll maybe make the log burner my 50th birthday request...
