Nice relic to have - up here in Northern Ireland which last time I looked out the window is still in the UK you could have it on your FAC for range use if a member of an approved club; or exceptionally for possession as an heirloom or some such reason but without authority to hold ammunition. Frequently these old rifles or Mausers turn up in lofts/coal bunkers etc. though they are inevitably part of the consignment landed at Larne to fight the then proposed Home Rule for Ireland. Paradoxically these were to arm British Loyalists rather than the Irish Republicans (who were active in their own gun-running at the same time) but in both cases the guns were to fight the British initially and at some later date probably each other - confusing innit?
Southern Ireland’s firearms legislation detail is outside my ken but I know they are very strict on firearms, especially pistols, so I imagine if it is “live” it would be pretty difficult to possess without good reason i.e. membership of an approved club.
