Alpex 4k lrf

Additional weight is added due to the scope construction, longer life dual internal inbuilt batteries and faster, larger lenses being using. Pretty much the same with all digital traditional scope style setups, apart from the Pard which is made with no internal batteries and a slower physically smaller lense.
Would you rate it as the best performing digital nv out there at the minute?

Well, since it's not on sale yet you can't call it the best performing digital NV out there AT THE MINUTE
Once it's actually available and enough people have used it and compared it to other digital NV scopes AVAILABLE AT THE SAME TIME then there may be an answer to your question
Patience dear boy, patience :)

Cheers

Bruce

True, nv is evolving at such a rate, it make it hard to know when to when to throw your money down. Cutting edge is old hat in 12 months or less

I'd say daytime long range it will be the best out there, also if your shooting a centrefire I would rather have a tube style setup in my choice of rigid mounts... the fact it now has the improved GUI with better features like scaled PIP, angle indication, ballistic function , etc all add to the appeal for not a lot of money. It's also the best 4K night time image out there.... Not long now and you will get a boat load of footage..

Like mentioned the Arken is a popular option, nice and compact with everything built in ..... BUT it's not tube style, battery life is not as good, plus it's not 4K .. The Aken will appeal to a lot of people who want to keep weight down and have an all in one package.

That's how I feel FL.I bought a Pard 008 LRF in 2020 & the Eagle vision mount & Redshot cover to go with it.
Put it on the rimmy, complete ball ache zeroing, press this, adjust that,"used' it 5 times, took it off & put it in the cupboard.
I'm looking at the Alpex, managed to get my mits on one in a shop & I think I'll be saving up to buy one however as you say the next best thing is weeks away🤪🤪

Have to say this looks like its going to be a winner - at least until the next best thing hits the shelves in a few months!
I thought it was 3.5x Optical mag and 4x digital giving 14x max but the video shows it going up to 28x - is this correct or am I missing something? Hope it's right, as if so for me it'll make it useful for long range corvid control and I might just have to splash some cash.

It's x8 digital zoom.
With a 4k sensor, at x2 digital zoom you have the same resolution as the old Alpex, C50, Zulus. DS35 have at base magnification,

Many thanks Bruce, apart from it being a bit weighty it sounds like this is possibly going to be the new boss ( for a while at least!).

Is it actually 4k at night Ian?
Unknown yet, but the footage at night with a DECENT IR is very good... It wont be as sensitive as an A50T 1080P in low light, but it will retain more detail daytime and night time with the right IR at far higher magnifications..

Alpex 4K LRF and Arken Zulus will be two front runners, as has been stated before.... prices keep getting better and performance..

Where does the infiray td70l sit in this debate. No one on hear seems to mention them, or any infiray products really, they can’t be that bad, I like the idea of the 5.5x base mag

The biggest issue is the importer, Highland Outdoors
They do not appear to have anyone who understands the products they represent
I went to an Infiray thermal demo evening at Auchterhouse clay ground a couple of years ago and was not able to look through more than a handful of the Infiray thermal products that were on display because rep from highland outdoors didn't bring enough batteries with him - and had no means of charging them
Also, the Infiray products are very hit and miss.
The RL42 thermal scope was, when it first came out, an excellent product for the money. at around £2600
It's big brother the RH50 sold for over £4k and was an utter dog of a scope
The reports I hear from some buyers of the TD70L are that the image was so bad, they sent them back
Finally, Ian Blackwood, owner of Blackwood Outdoors field tests far more NV and thermal kit than anyone else in the UK and is a fair and honest judge of the kit he tests.
If it's good, he'll say it;s good and and if it's bad he'll say it's bad
Of the 4 big online sellers of NV and thermal kit (Scott Country, Sportsman Gun Centre, Optics Warehouse and Blackwood Outdoors). Blackwood Outdoors are the only one that does NOT sell Infiray products - there might just be a good reason for that :)

Cheers

Hi mate

Get yourself to thermal spotters, scopes, optics, wildlife, countryside management, venison sales, countryside clothing, walking boots, country clothing, optics, spotters, night vision
and speak to Mark. He raves about td70l & will let you look through it as long as you want have a good play with one. And he speaks highly of infiray aftersale support. I was there other week at last light & I thought it was quality scope. He knows his stuff. Just phone ahead.

Marks a good chap. Bought a fair bit from him. Got my iray thermal spotter from him. The e3max, it's been faultless. No on on hear mentions them but it's a great bit of kit.
