I head shoot all my boar regardless of subs or HV ammunition, wild boar side on is perfect and usually no reason why that cannot be achieved with a little patients/field craft while stalking them, occasionally between the eyes is the only option especially if they see your silhouette under moonlight or sence your presence and start walking towards youHaving watched the video I would highlight that they were all taken with head shots. So long as penetration is adequate it will be fine … until it isn’t!! Chest shots might be a different matter. @Night òwl what shot placement do you suggest? Have you taken many quartering on and broadside with subsonics?
Great, thanks for the clarificationI head shoot all my boar regardless of subs or HV ammunition, wild boar side on is perfect and usually no reason why that cannot be achieved with a little patients/field craft while stalking them, occasionally between the eyes is the only option especially if they see your silhouette under moonlight or sence your presence and start walking towards you
Just to add , I find the most important thing with subsonics for boar is tip expansion.Great, thanks for the clarification![]()
Hi, what sort of load are you using? And what sort of stats are you getting from them.I use .308 subs fairly regularly on boar . They are extremely effective with the correct shot placement regardless of size animal, but you are limited with range
I use hornady sub x with vit N32cHi, what sort of load are you using? And what sort of stats are you getting from them.

Nice, thanks for the reply. Have a great Christmas.Sub x are 190grn specifically designed for sub sonic loads .
Yes a fair whack
At sea level the bullet is dropping almost one centimeter per one meter of travel @120m. So depending on sight height the above figures would mean zero at approx. 107 meters, and the bullet would be >10cm over POA at halfway (50-60m). Altitude and heat would help some, but in no means it's flat.I use hornady sub x with vit N32c
1060fps.
