Thoughts on the new Sauer 505?

And very conventional twist rates - some might say outdated…
Are the twist rates the same as were on the 404? I agree it’s disappointing that the red piece on the decocker is made from plastic. I also find it aggravating that they didn’t allow interchangeability for barrels between the 202 and the 404, and now the 505. It seems like they could have easily made them all compatible with each other.

I want to wait a while until reports from the field start to come back. If it shoots as well as my 202 does, and there’s no “problems” encountered in actual use, and if they offer it in left hand, I will consider it as a good option. I like that the receiver is steel again like on my 202. I realize that the receiver isn’t a stressed element in these types of rifles that lock directly into the barrel. But I never liked the idea of a steel bolt sliding back and forth inside an aluminum receiver. I also like that they’ve skeletonized the lower receiver to reduce weight.

No I just like Creedmore baiting, someone always bites
Hmmm. I am not what you would call a Creedmoor fanboy, but I do own one. It’s actually a nice round. Within its limitations, which I agree some people act like it has no limits. I wanted a 6.5 class caliber and thought long and hard about the Swede. But at least here in the USA, factory ammunition availability favors the Creedmoor and the latter comes with twist rates to handle all of the modern high BC bullets. So I guess I bit, but not like you might think. I was just curious as to your thoughts on it.

Main changes seem to be simpler bolt, adopting the Blazer mount rather than SUM and circa £1000 cheaper than equivalent 404. Stock and forend seem to be as per 404
