Stalking on foot

Ah pig sticking and pith helmets, what adventures those Poms had in the colony.
Embracing the local traditions and cultures among other things and getting their “freak-on” before returning home to their mundane existence maybe🤷🏽‍♂️ what happened in India stayed in India 😂

Hi does anyone know of any outfitters who offer stalking for boar on foot, it's something a friend and myself would like to try. I appreciate it is probably not the best way to hunt boar and the success rate is likely poor. I've enquired with a company in France but the prices they quoted would make your eyes water.
Any help appreciated, thanks
Be careful Scudd - them boyos are dangerous!

Appreciate not on foot but interesting, out there there maybe still a very fine cup and wonder if raf still have it or it’s history?
Anyways it involved some steel🤷🏽‍♂️

Apparently the event was the Kadir cup the pinnacle of piggy sticking in India and won by the honourable lord baden-powell ( honours to numerous to mention) one year, bet it was fun.🐗

That is as dumb as it gets...going into a wounded boar with rifle slung over shoulder......Dar wins.
Straddling front on is as bad as when the boars rip up your femoral artery is on the line....sheeeiit!

Many of us, in boar country, use special trousers protecting thights.
Also, severe incidents occur in spring time i.e. when sows protect their newly born. Never walk with loose dog in deep forest in the month of May.

Yes, it is a question of seconds. Semi auto shotguns are better than rifle with scope when going after a wounded animal.

My pal is a Berufsjaeger in Saarland, the long scar down one leg when he was younger and dumber makes you think hard about the realities.

Wild Boar are not the same beast as the feral hogs you see in U-tube clips from America or Australia. Stalking them on foot in their native territory would be a very big challenge indeed. Looking at the photo's in the post from Foxyboy43 my preference would be high seat every time.

We did it a couple of times in Hungary.
Toddled around for an hour or two in the morning before the drive started, spotting and stalking in mature beech woodland.
We got a couple, no different to stalking any other species really.

Actually with their poor eyesight in comparison to the deer species they are, once spotted a very easy animal to sneak up to. With wind in face and stealth of foot it will get you very close to them.

German father and son who I took out stalking were mad keen on killing pigs with son having “terriers” and scars below his knees as badges of office and loved the knife, father either a smith and Wesson or Luger but preferred the latter for some reason.
