If I'd gone to all the bother of getting that thing out of the water, I'd be eating it!She's a beauty, I hope she went back OK
Okay Midge, we believe you.swimming in the local quarry as a kid,
a pike swam past me, it was as long as I was tall,
Too big and too tough, Let someone else catch it next year and break the record againIf I'd gone to all the bother of getting that thing out of the water, I'd be eating it!
Never can understand the mentality of catching fish and letting them go again.
Agreed, there was a fella on here the other day who caught a much more appealing fish to my mindThis will no doubt come across as sour grapes but if I were so fortunate enough to catch a record fish I’d not be wanting it to have all the visible hallmarks of having been fed too many pies!

Goliath Tiger Fish, I'd love to catch one, and a Mahseer, ever since I picked up Wade & Boote's book Somewhere Down The Crazy River...Used to dream of catching a big old pike like that as a kid.
Jeremy Wade made me realise there were scarier things . . . . . . .

Agreed, those long thin river twenties are pretty fish and easy to hold for a photo, those big old 40-pounders make your back ache holding the buggers..Agreed, there was a fella on here the other day who caught a much more appealing fish to my mind
