ATV Course and approving bodies

To be allow to use the quad bike and buggy at the estate I have permission on, I need to have an ATV certificate to show I know how not to do stupid stuff. So I have started looking into them for Central Scotland and just hoping to get some advice from people that have regulary done these courses. A few questions I have:
- Some are Lantra approved some seem to be RoSPA. Assuming there isn't really a difference and both are the right thing
- I was really hoping there would be a one course day that would do both Sit-Asride and Sit-in, but that doesn't seem likely?
- I'm paying out of pocket for this as it's all recreational, any idea how much a day course should be costing?

If you have done one of these courses in Central Scotland (I live near Falkirk) any recommendation on provider?

Cheers

Borders College at Newton St Boswells do a good course for Sit in/Sit astride ATVs. It's registered with NPTC. When I did it, I went down at lunchtime and was finished by about 4:30pm. The college provided all the machines and a trailer and had a test area set up. At the time I was using trailers quite a bit for moving an Argo about, so I suggest getting some trailer reversing practice before you go.

Its nice to hear that you can get a 'forever' qualification.
Being from the construction industry, its obvious it has gone beyond training with cards and tickets being valid for only 3 or 5 years.
A driving license is for life, so many other qualifictions should also be.

when I think how many tickets I had from my time in the army - all of which have now expired! every type of construction plant, blacktop, crushing, chainsaws, explosives etc etc etc.... no I am told I cannot do ;)

I have organised a few of these for our local BDS branch, my learnings include the below (some of which have been mentioned above:)

NPTC lasts a lifetime whereas, I gather LANTRA ones require refreshers

NPTC is accepted by all of the landowners we spoke to including: NT, FE, FLS

Sit astride (quad) and Sit side by side (Argo, Polaris etc) are separate courses. This usually means two x one day courses

We charged £125 per person but the (x2) vehicles and locations were donated by members to keep costs down

I managed to get onto a course for the sit asride one, but tbh stopped looking for them as I have lost that permission now.
Just enquired for a local course and it's over 1k and 2 days 🙄
I found that too, it's either just the assessment or you needed to own the land and ATVs there wasn't a centre.
