New law to retake driving test at 65

This is a brilliant idea. I'm astounded that this isnt already a thing. It's unbelievable the amount of dangerous driving thats witnessed on the road from elderly people

Far more from the younger
I'm not saying there is a horrendous level of driving from a certain age group. But from personal experience the arrogant/impatient/'i own the road' bad drivers are young; but the plain old dangerous driving (drifting/bad reactions/pulling out infront of people/slow speeds on fast roads) usually comes from old people

Thats exactly what you said initially

Fact is , you can’t easily test people’s attitudes, only their abilities…..
young people have always and probably will always drive with a bit more energy.

I much prefer a lace on leather type cheek raiser. Doesn’t require any drilling or alterations to the stock.

Sounds like a great idea.
Health, eyesight, reaction times etc. can deteriorate quickly at that age in some people.
This would keep everyone a bit safer on the road.
May you grow old gracefully, re take your test and then fail , we’re not all fecked at that age , should I retake mine 🤔I’m 70 and can still drive as good as a any one else , and most likely safer

I’ll be delighted if I live that long.

So, what have you to fear from having to retake a test? You should be proud of your skills

I think a test should have to be retaken every so often to keep the general quality of driving somewhat high. I think a large majority of people would drive to a higher standard if they knew they had to re-take a test (or something to that accord) every 5-10 years or whatever it may be. I don't think anyone would be apposed to something that will make the roads safer to everyone; and if they are, maybe they're the problem?

I am indeed proud , And if I ever thought that they were failing in any way , and would but other peoples lives at risk , it would bee time for a full mot ,

I need my glasses to read my iphone and not to have two or three windows open at once.

That’s great but the vast majority of people actually have to be forced to do the right thing. Most people value their own independence and convenience more than the safety of other road users.
